i wrote out a check to someone over two months ago and i'm tired of waiting for them to cash it. is there any kind of time limit? it seems like companies always write on thier checks, "void after 90 days," or something like that. how can i get this written on my checks? its not fair that companies can do that but they can hold my check seemingly forever.

I have had a car loan (on a new car) for two months. A few days after I took my car off the lot, they said my loan had been transferred or "sold" to another company. Is this legal? Why would a company do this? How does it effect me?

I did and those fools never investigated it.
I paid a GMAC loan payment in the hallway because the office hadnt opened yet
This lady came out of the office and took the payment.
I said I need a receipt, and she said that my cancelled check would be the receipt.
She put the payment in several days later-- causing me to be thirty days late. I complained and got a letter from them saying Iwas ever late and they changed their computer tapes. (i know i should have gotten a receipt)
When the thirty days showed up on my file, I disputed it. but i didnt sent the letter thinking that GMAC would have the information on their tapes. They had the information still there but the credit bureau said the debt was still valid and I was thirty days late. The credit bureaus do not always investigate disputes so be careful. Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

All the direct deposit signup forms that I have seen require a voided check to be attached. Has anyone not attached the voided check and had it setup anyways.

The direct deposit form asks that I attach a voided check. But the account I am using is a savings account. If I enter the correct routing and account number, would I still have to attach a voided check?

Most banks say that you can use direct deposit with a savings account. But the form to sign up for direct deposit asks that you attach a voided check.

I am getting 20K from the Indian Health Service to help me pay back my student loans, because I work in a rural indian health center. They make a direct deposit to me - I have about 130K in loans to pay back. As long as I have qualifying loans I can reapply each year for another 20K. If I send the money directly to the loaner and take 20K off the top, my monthly payment will only reduce about $150/mo if I'm lucky. If I bank the 20K instead and use it for monthly payments of say, $1500/mo then I could keep what is NOW coming out of pocket ($850/mo) to increase my personal income - which is desperately needed. So, bottom line there is I would be increasing my payments by 650/mo. Question is, would this be better for me or worse in the long run due to compound interest rates? $150/mo decrease in monthly payments with 20K off the top of 130K owed. OR bank the 20K and increase monthly payments 650/mo. HELP! My loans range from 8% for state loans (80K) and 3-4% federal loans 50K. HELP!

$125K debts (includes $65K fed. student loan)
$183K price house was bought at
$256K current value of home
$163K owed
400-500-ish credit score
No to refinance
No to loan
Which would you choose?
1: Sell home, buy down, but in the $100K range in better/more desirebale neighborhood, to free up monthly cash that would normally go to hi mort. pmt. Not as able to pay a lump sum to student loan, but at least make payments, (while interest accrues), to this and other debt.
2. Buy a smaller, less comfortable condo. Cash purchase in $80K-$90K range, pay lump settlement to student loan, and make larger payments, (compared to the 1st scenario), to other creditors. Still own property, but may have trouble selling it in a few years.
Thank you. Your responses will be very helpful.
