The direct deposit form asks that I attach a voided check. But the account I am using is a savings account. If I enter the correct routing and account number, would I still have to attach a voided check?

If you attach a check, chances are whatever remarks you make requesting the deposits go to your savings will not be noticed (or, with the descrepancy of the checking info and the savings info, they may be left to "pick" an account, and therefore pick checking since that is the "standard" account for Direct Deposits).

Also, your checking account number IS NOT the same as your savings account number. Even in a Credit Union, the number may be the same except for a suffix, but there WILL be a difference in order to differentiate the accounts. So, attaching your checking account number will NOT be providing them with you savings account number.

And, attaching a deposit slip, even if it's a savings account deposit slip, will not give them all the info they need in order to accurately process the info. Notice...routing/ABA numbers ARE NOT printed on your deposit slips.

If you know the ABA number and savings account number, you can enter that, since that is really all they need. However, some companies just don't want to "take your word" for it because if there is even one digit off, or not legible, then that can cause major problems if the deposit is made to a wrong account.

So, they may take your word for it. Ask them. But, most likely they will ask for something from your bank. The payor of the deposits should have a form they'd like for you to have your bank representative complete. If they can't provide you with that form, then ask your bank. They should have a blank/generic form that you can take to your payor.

You do were I work. Apparently they want to "get It right the first time" so there is no confusion over aba routing number's vs. account numbers, etc.

You will still need to provide a voided deposit slip then.

No you shouldn't have to provide a check for a savings account.
Just include all info; routing# acc#, bank name & address

I had a similar problem. Just go to the bank and ask for a letter.

if you have any preprinted deposit slips, those should work. If not, I'd talk to personnel to see exactly what can be used.
