I'm trying to buy a computer and I probably have about 300 bucks to work with, I would like a laptop but it isn't in the cards right now.

That is a good question. I appreciate that you pointed out your approximate age. Most people want to earn a LOT of money without having to work for it. If it were that easy, everyone would do it. Since you asked a legitimate question and you obviously have access to a computer....

Have you thought about ebay? You should run this idea by your parents first. You may have some toys or games that you do not want anymore. There is a demand for certain items on ebay. You could make some homemade crafts and put on ebay. The trick I have found on ebay is to make your offerings fun. Try to describe the items you want to sell in funny terms (do not ever lie or be decieptful) but you could use a lot of descriptive words. Use as many words as you can in the title. That is what guides people to your item. Use as many small words in the title as you can. Never repeat words in the title. One is enough.

Cruise through ebay (or another online auction service). You may get some real ideas on what you can do to earn a little extra money. You can even get your family involved. It can be a lot of fun.

If you are not trying to make a living at it, do not buy any of that 'how to sell on ebay' stuff. Just learn it as you go. The U.S. Postal Service will give you free boxes to ship with. They also have a very good DVD on how to sell on ebay. Look at USPS.com.

Good luck earning your new computer.

No matter your age, here are a several types of jobs for you to try:

Dog walker
Animal sitter or pet care for when people are on vacation (dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc)
Babysitting
Paper route
Yard work
Washing vehicles
If you are exceptionally good in one subject, try tutoring for a fee.
Some larger cities offer summer youth programs which offer summer jobs for young people age 14-19.
Since you mentioned a computer, do you know how to create a web site? Or you might want to offer to teach older adults how to use the internet.
If you are artistic, try portraits or pet portraits.
If you are creative and like to build, make and sell unique dog houses, bird houses and mail boxes.

No matter what, you will have to be a sales person. If you are not selling a product then you are selling yourself. You want people to like you. You should be friendly, confident, personable and most of all ask what it is your customer needs (and everyone is a possible customer). Remember... for every person that tells you “no thank you” find three more possible people to sell to.

Here is an excellent article to read about a boy, who at age 6 started with small jobs and by the time he was 14 he made a million dollars!

Dont do anything that cost your money... easy way to have money is not to spend it.... Offer to do stuff... especially in the summer or fall.... like yardwork, or wash a car, or stuff like that... if you know how to hand wax a car pays good here... that with a detail job cost 70 to 100 bucks.... just a few cars like that... you would have it! watch out for gimmicks...

Well, ask mom and dad if you can do extra chores for extra money. If you are old enough to babysit you can do that. You can also do other odd jobs for your neighbors--like offer to do yardwork or wash their cars.
