Ok i had some money problems like 6 years ago. I opened in june of 2000 a capital one credit card and used 2600 on that. mainly for college stuff. I only made 3 payments and moved to MN. I never recived anything til a year ago 04/06 a letter from a lawyers office demanding 3400 now or else we will sue. Now in august i my boyfriend got a call from a collector demanding 4100 now. the collector told my boyfriend if he fails to give me that message, he will be arrested with possible jail time. Can someone give me some advise on this.

I have heard it can be done and want to know how it can be done and under what circumstances as I know it's difficult. I ask because I have over 100k in loans and have been unable to get a job that pays over 30k, and my payments are to be over 1,000 per month and I only make 1,600 per month.

My mother in law took out a payday loan through Ace and has not repaid it. As of right now it is in their collections department, but I want to know if it will just stay a collections issue or does she have to worry about a warrant for a hot check.

I have a part-time job and get paid weekly by the check writen in my name and given me directly. BUT neither my SSN nor any personal information (except for name) was asked for when I got hired. As you can see I don't get paycheck stubs nor do I get any taxes taken out. Is there a way IRS can track this income?

ok - first of all both dtr and I r hndicppd. Can't work. Only get govt asst. =ing $1304/2ppl. Bills for both ppl include: $354 rent, $525 CC's/4; $60 cell - have motorized w/c and need cell for emergency calls when out; $120 cable/phone pkg - standard pkg; $25 internet - need internet for dtr who is retarded and has nothing else but tv and me for companionship; $100 food; $50 med copay. If I put money away, it seems like something comes up and it goes out anyway. EX: Had $120 saved - microwave dies - needed new one for $78, left me with $42 in jar which went out for personal items - tampons, deodorant and laundry/bath soap from dollar store. Any more suggestions? Thank you.

I'm wondering about books, web sites, software, magazines, etc. We have Macs at home, own rental properties, currently keep finances on customized spreadsheets in Appleworks. Would like better sync with online banking for a more comprehensive and integrated picture. Also want to have a comprehensive source for information so that we consider all the key elements of our finances without letting things fall through the cracks.

Thanks.

Usually I throw out all the credit card offers I get in the mail, but I received one this week that is kind of different. It's visa card where they send you a dell laptop for signing up. Here are the strings:

You must transfer over $5000 and maintain a minimum balance of $3500 for 18 months.

I'm thinking of getting it because I have roughly $5000 in credit card debt, I probably wouldn't be able to pay it off in 18 months any way. So why not get a laptop rather than pay my current cards interest and get nothing?

I'm pretty sure the interest rate is variable (like what I got now), but I think it's connected to the prime rate.

Has anyone taken this offer? How has it worked out for you?
