No such banks are in existence. Even if they allow you no fees, free checking, no overdraft fees, no minimum it would only be for a short promotional period (about 3 months). After that period you would have to maintain a certain combined minimum balance (most banks $1,500) and you would have waived fees.

The only time you do not get overdraft fees charged is when you have more than one accounts linked (say a checking and savings). This way if you write a check for say $100 and you only have $80 in checking but you have another $2,000 in savings
they would use the savings as leverage for your overdraft.

Wachovia is one of the largest banks in the South and spreading to the mid-west and because of their size they offer some of the best rates. But, even they do not offer anything for free unless you maintain a monthly minimum.

I think you'll always encounter overdraft fees. That's how they make their money for the free checking accounts. I would recommend a credit union rather than a bank. Banks can charge you for using the ATM machine AND charge you for going to a teller. Credit Unions are like how banks used to be twenty years ago. I'm not from your area but check the yellow pages.
Have a great day!!!

No bank in the world will give you overdraft without fees, if they say so that means in any other means they are going to collect the money.

My advise is instead of looking for free service better you concentrate on good service

I've had great luck with Citizens Bank. I didn't know there was a bank that had no overdraft fees.

If Wachovia is in your area, check them out. Also check out Credit Unions. Sometimes they offer better deals than banks.
