When you start a new health insurance policy and they say you have a 365 waiting period, does that mean you have to wait 365 days before you first become pregnant or is it 365 days before you deliver?I have Blue cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.

I had called to make sure it wasn't a mistake before cashing it. They said they had made a mistake, that the check was accidently applied to my account and so they had sent the check to me and now they want their money back. And within a month because I couldn't pay it back they sent it to collections and were threatening my credit ratings. I had believed it was an over payment for the final month I had with them and just wanted to make sure that everything was correct before cashing the check. I thought it was just taking them awhile to close my account. But a month or so later they realized they made an error and demanded their money back immediately. They were willing to make a payment arrangement but they were the ones that made the error not me. It just doesn't seem right that they can do that to us.

My husband found out today that before March 10, the company he works for will lay off 550 employees. We are expecting our first child in May. The insurance through his company is what i have. When he is laid off, i am for sure the insurance will be gone. Any suggestions on what i should do? I am worried about the baby, and making sure everything goes ok. Do i try to get help through the state or what? I am not sure what to do... Just scared Please no stupid comments, as this is a touchy subject for us right now...

When I turn 19, I will loose my Medicaid. I have been very sick for the past year, and still have one more surgery and I have to go to the hospital every other week. I am applying for disability, just for the medical insurance, but in case I don't get it, what about welfare? What exactally is it and how do you apply for it?

Please don't write telling me to get a job. I would if I could. I have always had a job, and the only reason I am asking about this is b/c I have to have medical insurance. Can you provide a website also?

Thank you!
Sarah

My niece is really heart-sick. She is only 20 and just financed her first car. About a week ago someone hit her beautiful car and drove off. It was a hit and run. She has insurance, but deliquent in payment. She sent them a cashier's check to cover her insurance in full. She sent a cashier's check to the insurance. The company hadn't sent a late notice. Upon the evening of the accident-- the check was in the mail. The insurance company, in the meantime, took photos of her car. And upon receipt of the cashier's check it was immediately negotiated by her insurance company. But, they refuse to pay for the damage done to her vehicle. In a like manner, are they not accepting responsibility for repairs in that they cashed her check? She is a very sad young girl. Is there anything we can do?

Four years ago, i got a contract phone from the Car-phone Warehouse, the provider was t-mobile and on the same day I took out an insurance policy. Every year afterwards I got an upgrade, I never cancelled my policy and the direct debits continued to come out every month from my account. On the 18th November 2006 my upgrade was a sony K800i, last week i dropped my phone and broke the 'inner' screen, i immediately phoned the Carphone Warehouse (whom I have paid a substantial amount of money to over the last few years) to find out if they would fix it, and they informed me that as I had upgraded with t-mobile i was not covered (and hadn't been covered for 3 years). The money I have therefore paid was for absolutely no reason! I now would like to insurance my phone with a decent insurance company, any suggestions??? How soon after i insure can I ask them to fix my phone??? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

I have Bluecross of California, this is our insurance info:

$300 deductible
25% co-insurance
$2,500 out of pocket maximum (stop loss)

So if my wife has a hypothetical delivery with a cost of $12,000 then we would pay as follows, right?

$3,000 because we pay 25% of the $12,000 bill
-$500 because our out of pocket maximum is $2,500 and the bill was $3,000
+ $300 deductible (or is the deductible included in the out of pocket max?)
= $2,800 is the maximum we would pay for the delivery

Are my calculations correct? I want to make sure I set aside enough money from our savings account for the baby’s birth. I am unsure how insurance works. Thanks!!

A friend of mine is expecting her daughter to get a full-time job after graduation in summer of 2007. She is a 58-year old widow and doesn’t have health insurance. She is planning to have her daughter claim her as a dependent in the coming tax year in order to cover her in her daughter company’s health insurance once her daughter gets the job.

I told her the above condition is impossible. Her daughter can claim her as a dependent, but not able to cover her in the group health insurance, such as company's health insurance.

Would like to hear other comments and opinions.
