Find a group plan that self-employed people can enroll in - be sure that has a fair price and good coverage, and start knocking on doors. Oftentime, a higher deductible plan is very attractive to the self-employed....they typically don't go running to the doctor for every sneeze and sniffle, but don't want to be wiped out by a catastrophic healthcare bill. Have had great success in the past with farmers, body shops, ma and pa stores and the like. If you show them something reasonable and dependable, they will tell you who to sell next, since they are all in the same boat.
Good luck.
