Apparantly tree roots grew into the pipes and caused it to back up and spill into the basement. We have over 50 boxes with water and "more" type damage. Farmers insurance won't tell me what my policy covers without me first filing a claim. However, if I file a claim, and find out it is not covered, it will stay on my record and be a negative when we buy a house and could keep us from getting a decent ins. rate. Thanks

As per my other question, I'm looking to start a brokerage. Therefore, I would be in control of my own small business. I would assume that it would be a sole-proprietorship (and then later LLC or full out corporation).

Now, I am also fairly young (let's say 20) and male. I live in NJ, but I might be able to get residency in NC because of school. I'm not looking for a specific quote but a generalization. With that being said, if I purchased a car would it be cheaper to:

---Buy the car under my name and insure it myself?
OR
---Purchase the car through the company I start and have it insured through corporate insurance and register me as a driver?

Thanks in advance.

Cafeteria 125 is in effect so it's plausible. I can't see how contributions could actually be in addition to premiums; it's already enough punishment having to cover such a large deductible. Anyhow, I've been reading up as much as I can, HSAinsider, etc., but I cannot determine the answer to this fundamental question!

Appraisal went down by $1,500 within 3 years. Can diamonds go down in value? or should we get a second opinion? The person that appraised the ring is a GIA member. We don't want to insure a ring with a lower value.

resulting bill? They have billed me twice, and when I called, they said they would resubmit the bill. If the doctor's office knows which lab my insurance contracts with, shouldn't this be their error and do I have any recourse?

My father-in-law was the primary beneficiary in a life insurance policy for my mother-in-law. Since receiving the money, he uses it to buy drugs and drinks all the time. He also has a restraing order against him and two DUIs cases pending. Is there anything that his three children can do to get the money away from him?

Last July, our builder parked a work truck on the street blocking our driveway and we had our landscape trailer parked IN our driveway. While it was parked there and his men were working in the driveway, somehow it rolled down the driveway and hit the gate of the truck with the top of the trailer frame, scratching the truck's paint. The builder said, "Don't worry about it", but of course we didn't get a release signed. In December, we made a large claim against our new home warranty. Lo and behold, we just received a copy of a repair estimate for $500 for the truck, and a letter from the builder requesting payment. First of all, the estimate contains $200 of charges listed as "misc" beyond the paint and labor costs. Second, it seems excessively high. We are really upset at this and are fairly certain that the builder has used this as a way to recover some of the costs for our home repair and get revenge. Should we file an insurance claim? Request an estimate from another shop?

My mother will be 65 in August and will be filling out the paperwork three months before that. She has cataracts, and will need surgery. She is having some difficulty getting scheduled with the Dr. she is seeing now, so it is likely she will have to change doctors and have the surgery after she becomes elligible for medicare.

My questions:

Does medicare cover preexisting conditions, and if not, could this be an exception b/c she might have to wait to have the surgery anyway?

Also, what % does Medicare typically cover? She will be purchasing supplemental insurance, so can anyone provide some info or advice about that.

Thanks.

I am a freelance computer technician so nobody's paying for our health insurance. I make about $2,500/months after tax. My wife stays home. We both are healthy. I am 37 years old. My wife is 31 years old. We might be having kids soon. We rent 2 bed 1 bath apartment for $900/ months. We both drive older model economy cars which are paid for. I visited few health insurance websites but they have so many different options I don't know which one is good. Can anybody give us some hints about which coverage we should get? We are interested in getting PPO instead of HMO. So many options and we just cannot decide. Thanks.

it is a life insurance policy that awards for accidental death, I understand there are limitations, but i also understand there are reasonable 'excuses' for the relief from forfeiture. Issues surrounding this include the likelihood that a fair trial is still available to the insurance company, that I was wrapped up in an inquisition to determine whether he did indeed die from an accident, that I was not aware of the policy, I was acing difficult circumstances myself....I guess the real question here is are there any known grounds that provide a reasonable explanation for not claiming within the period of limitations under insurance law?
