There's this administrative assistant position on a university campus career center. What should I wear for the interview? I'm a male. Do I have to wear a suit? Can I just wear nice dress pants, shirt and a tie instead? And what should I bring? A notebook folder for my resume or a shoulder bag?

If an employee of less than 3 months quits a job without giving a notice, is there a databank that employers can post negative comments to, where other prospective employers can query to find out info? Or is there a way for an employer to post something negative like this (if the employee did nothing illegal, just didn't give notice) to someone's credit report?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a website where job hunters can go to see how a certain company rates with it's own employees. I came across one the other day but, of course, i can't find it now.

Thanks in advance!

From the age of 11 I wanted to be an accountant. I trained as an articled clerk for 5 years, qualified with a regional prize for my final and, I think, became a pretty good accountant - even, apparently for my proffesion, I had a "wicked" sense of humour.
I entered the big world of industry, was so successful that I was offered and took a high management position but was no longer mostly an accountant. High pay, lower satisfaction - until I had a heart attack attack at 47 years of age and took early retirement. Excellent invalidity pay and now pension but some doubts.
Should I have stuck to my chosen career with more satisfaction, albeit at a lower level of pay, (and possibily avoided the stress/heart attack) or did as I did.
Your views would be appreciated.

I have a terrible, condescending witch of a boss that I have the privilege to be leaving in about two weeks. In the next two weeks, I'd like to make her life as much of a living hell as it can be, but do it legally, and smoothly enough to keep my job until it's time to leave. I know for a fact that I will not need a reference when I leave b/c I'm going to grad school with full funding for the next five years. Here's the kicker - she works for the city and is a vindictive, evil woman, so everything has to be completely legal. Anyone answering that I should just be mature and finish out my prison sentence (haha) is just wasting their time.

Is it okay for women to make more money than men?
my wife and i are both family doctors. She makes $140k while i make $100k, and i have no problem with that. I am actually proud that she is worth more than me in the medical market.

But, while at a party, a friend of mine was outraged that i made less than my wife for some reason. i told him that i was proud and had no problem with that, but i think he had issues with male-biased thinking. he was asking about salary, so i didnt ignore his question

also stating your age range will help me understand where you are coming from
0-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-118(oldest human i think)

i often have to consult the IT guys at my work about projects. the one who is on my floor was obnoxious and condescending initially, then i told him off and he said he was trying to be "oddly" funny and he's just like that. since i started, ive always caught him checking me out and he was nice after that. then we were kind of jokey, friendly with one another. it was sort of flirty and he would blush, trip. yesterday, i went over just to say hi, because i was on break, which i never do, and he was totally obnoxious/weird. he was like what do you need. i said i came to say hi. he says hi obnoxiously. i say, you're giving me a mean look. he gets flustered and starts talking about the color printer. i get curt and leave. i didnt say hi the rest of the day but he kept looking at me when we passed each other. cant make out how to act with him? should i just avoid him? he is 43 (i am 25) and english and always stares at my boobs/butt in addition, which makes it evenmore weird.

Need help with what to say in my resignation.

The job I'm resigning from is my first "fulltime" job - that is, any other job I've had up til now has been casual so quitting hasn't been hard.

I'm aiming to resign to take up a much more enjoyable job within a month. My resignation therefore will be due in two weeks.

What do I say, or do? Is it best to leave a letter on a desk - or go to the boss and say so as well?

What reaction should I expect...?

Secondly, too...a bit reason of the fact I'm resigning is the culture of my co-workers - there is an extremely "bitchy", backstabbing culture here and to be honest, I can't stand it anymore.

Does that seem like a legitimate reason to leave - that is, in terms of a new employer asking why I left?

I used to think that I wanted to be a veterinarian, because I love animals, but then when I realized that you have to give them shots and other things I didn't want to do it.
I am currently considering becoming an architect, but I can't really see myself doing that. It seems so boring.
When I watched "An Inconvienant Truth." I became really motivated to help with the enviroment, but I'm not sure I career options there are.
I love watching CSI: Miami and thought that maybe going into forensic sciences would be interesting, but I'm not sure.
What other career options are there that somewhat connect to my interests?
