I'm applying to be a firefighter with LR, AR and the application mentions that the background check will include but not be limited to driving & criminal records, employement, finanicals. What other things might be looked at?

That pretty much covers it.

Here is the big thing, if you had a ticket, don't ASSUME that they won't find it, if you have been arrested don't ASSUME that they won't find out.

I worked for a Chief sometime back, and his theory was that FF's have a very adventurous type of personality, that they tend to live a liiittttlllleee close to the edge...:)

Them having been through a rough period of their life is easy to understand so long as they have worked through it and learned from it.

The cardinal sin is lying about your past, hiding something in your past, or assuming that someone won't find out.

The background investigations are intense, and some departments follow that up with polygraph exams.

If something happened, be honest about it.
