they did the drug test like right in the managers office of the place i'm getting a job at...

in the thing there was a drug test side and a pregnancy test side?
do they do this normally?

it didn't bother me or anything i just thought it was weird....heh..

I'm 17 years old and I've been working at this place for a month now, and I've given thought into putting in a 2 weeks notice but I have way too much to do before school gets here. I am scheduled tomorrow and Sunday. Is this letter okay to give to them tomorrow? I don't need them as a future reference, that's why I don't mind quitting without the 2 weeks.

A couple of days after i submitted my resume online, i called them to make sure they got it, they scheduled an informal interview(MON) during the interview they said they had more interveiws and after a couple of days they would set up a second interview. I called on (FRI) in the middle of day, and left a message to see how the selection was going. They havent called me back all day. Its not a big company , are they ignoring me? did i not get the job? is that there way of saying "buzz off"

I quit my job due to a family emergency and i didn't call her and inform her until a week later since i think my family was more important and she wont give me my check she held for a week and 2 days i worked. she also doesn't do taxes she pays under the table for her business, couldnt i hand her into some bureau for her not doing her taxes and not paying me?

Their web site (cidinternational.org) claims they are " 'the' certifying body to accredit and certify interior decorators for the first time in history." Is their certification really valuable, or does some other organization offer a more recognized certification?

I tried to apply for 5 jobs last month hoping I could save enough money before school start "August 20". But no one has called me, last time I posted that Im over qualified and I need to "dumb down my application" by not putting too much information about education because they think I would only be working there for the time being. Now its August 3 and no one called, Im going to apply AGAIN today in different places, but IT TAKES A MONTH to get called....... theres no hope, and I cant ask my parents for money. My major is Computer arts in Animation, and Im taking it at Florida Atlantic University, and I need a computer to do it, and there is no lab near my area, and I also dont want to borrow money, if i got not JOB. This is really bad, unless you know a way to get a job that will get you hired immediately, that will truly help. Mcdonalds, Wendies, Video connection,Wallmanrt, Publix, another Mcdonalds, heh I guess they want people with less education

I'm 21 and I'm almost 2 months into my first real job as an assistant manager at a drug store.
My job is cool except for one thing, there's this clerk that seems to hate all us employees because we're all young enough to be her children. So she tries to command us like if we were her kids. When we tell her waht to do she battles back saying we're not the boss of her. My boss knows about all this but he's powerless to stop her as well. She's older than him too.
Yesterday she decided to started this heated arguement with another clerk. When we tried to ask to not to do it in front of the customers and please take it back it got worse. Then she started screaming that the store would fail without her.
I was wondering, does it bother any of you out there if your boss is young enough to be your child? Or is this just isolated?

I work for a family run company. My boss has an extremely mischievous son that he brings to work every Friday. This kid is 17 and acts like he is 5. He makes fun of our mentally handicapped janitor and makes a mess of my office, including today drawing on a picture of my pregnant wife. I am fed up with this kid , all he causes is trouble and makes a mess. How do I handle this kid, I want to hit him.

I'm filling out an application for Red Robin to be a waitress, and it asks my expected wage. I know that waitresses don't get paid much because of tips, so I don't know what to put.

I've never worked at a restruant so I dont know how much they get paid, like $3 maybe?

I live in Wisconsin if that helps.

I have been working at a retail shop for a while now and have wanted to quit for some time. The reason why I have stayed is for the money. The people are very unfriendly and have at times treated me as well as other employees like we are 2 years old. I have received my schedule for next week and am only scheduled for under 6 hours of work. This is suprising and shocking to me since I have been scheduled over the past couple weeks for 20+ hours. In addition I feel I am a great employee. I have come in as early as 7am to help with new items being brought into the store. I have never complained about early or late work hours or last minute changes. I am really thinking about quitting it has lately seemed that they do not appreciate me or my work ethic. The positives of quitting would be that it would give me a real kick in the pants to find something and spread my wings and find something I could really build as a career. The negative aspect no immediate money coming in.

I currently have an MBA (no specialization) and I work in Market Research as a project manager. I would like to eventually become a Director of Market Research within the next 5-7 years. I have been accepted into a Masters of Market Research program. I am still wondering if I should go through the program or not. I am trying to leave my job as I dread going in every day, dont particulary get on with the people I work with and get little support in what is a very difficult and demanding job. My employer is aware I am trying to leave and I have applied for 5 different posts and am receiving interviews. However my employer is not writing favourable references and is concentrating on picking up on faults in my work during a short period when I was suffering domestic abuse and had a close family bereavement. I seem to be stuck.

my father recently sold my grandmothers business, and my dad and my mom and i all worked here, well, tuesday the new owners fired my mom and dad, but they kept me!?! and they fired my dad for the stupidist reason, one strike and he was out, they fired my mom (she was our delivery person) because their wife was going to start doing that, but they say they want me to stay on, do i? i feel like i'm being torn between a job where i really don't do anything, and loved doing, when my dad was here, and my father, i feel like i have to pick.!

the ONLY reason they gave him was that he didn't give them his personal password for the email/internet account that he pays for out of his personal account, which the business used but did not own, and the new owner was saying that he bought everything to do with the business, which the contract was not worded that way, it was worded that he bought the building and equipment, an asset buy

A somewhat trivial question perhaps but i would like to have your opinion...

I have a former employee that left to try another work. As he did this he parted with telling everyone how good it should be to leave since he was tired of the work and that he was generally not pleased with how things had developed for him the last six months. After being at his new work for only four weeks he phoned me and was very regretful. He had gained insight (according to himself) that his old job was much better than he had believed. I met him to judge his sincerity, and I think he really menas it. So... I need someone like him and have a place for him, BUT what would you do?

When you get cases like

Some guy sends his girlfriend a sexy email, or she sends one to him etc and it accidently gets broadcast ie send to all etc.


Why sack, suspend or even give a rats ***?

So they are in a couple and in love and mentioned what they are doing later tonight.

Surely a sign of a happy stable life outside work which should mean a less stressed employee better able to work.


So if things like this hit the news why does the boss just say to the press.


Oh grow up and get a life at least they have more of a life then you. Have you not got anthing better to care about like the war in Iraq, the flood victems or how young single pople cant afford homes.


As for should be working.

Emmn how lone did it take to read a 3 paragraph emial? 1 minute? half? like that weill make a difference... most likly perk them up like a dose of red bull.


As for embarrasing the company, give over like most married couples dont have a sex life, who cares.

why doesn't everyone join unions then have them campaign for wages to be linked to house price rises?

Every time house prices rise those without a house/mortage are effectively having a massive wage cut so surely wages should be measured in 'percentage of the average house price'


And all getting togther to force this union wise and restore final salary pensions.


As that way the workers get their fair pay for fair work not bosses in coccaine, prostitues and other luxuries they dont need

It's getting time for me to get into college and I'm not 100% sure of what I want to be. I want to do a job that has to do with cars but I cant find any that are even worth going to college. The most an Automotive technitian gets is 30k Mechanical engineers get about the same though i dont know if they even have to do with cars, and Automotive engineers I've never actually heard of them just a clever name I thought a career would be given. How tiny are you that you feel the need to get minimum wage schmucks in trouble for being less than ideal in an imperfect world?
