I have tried to reach out to him about it on numerous occasions and offered to help. I have even tried to engage HR but with no success in getting the review completed. The company's HR policy on reviews is weak and reviews are constantly late for all employees. They tell us salary increases are retroactive but its more than just about the money, I want feedback on my performance and want to be compensated in a timely manner.

Hi.
I wondered if anyone could help me out a bit here.
I want to open an Ebay shop, but wondered how hard/easy it actually is.
When I've looked at the idea on Ebay, it says I need a VAT number. How do I get one of those & also at the moment I'm unemployed, would that matter in getting this number. I sell a few things that I've got from clearing out at home in order to get a bit of money behind me so I can buy stuff wholesale & sell it. I already have a wholesaler & have been ordering a few things to get a good supply of stuff before I take the plunge.
Could someone please be kind enough to help me with a little bit of knowledge.
I really want to get out of being unemployed & due to a spinal cord injury I'm stuck at home quite a bit these days.
Thankyou very much in advance.

FYI, this new company that contacted me is the job I really wanted all along. What should I tell them, should I lie and say I'm not working, or should I tell them the truth about taking a new position but being interested in theirs- will it make me look bad is what I'm wondering? Thanks!

I will be 40 in a few months and have been working in an administrative field for over 20 years. In the last few years I've had aspirations of going back to school to obtain a Funeral Director's license. These two fields are comparitively very different. What results did you have when you made the change? Do you have regrets?

a girl at work was 1 1/2 hours late for work today, claiming that she had a doctors appointment, she did not mention the appoitment previously, she has an appointment card, but I am guessing that it was an emergency appointment, but in that case she would not get a card.... COULD BE A LIE!

Then she is now saying that she needs to go home beacuse of personal problems at home, but refuses to go into detail about it.

I am not a manager or supervisor, I am a senior member of staff but this girl is telling me that she wants to go now and asking me to let the managers know.

The managers are based in another city.

She is worrying that she will get the sack, because she is asking me to lie to the manager and tell them that she is ill, when there is nothing medically wrong with her, she is claiming there is something wrong at home.

She is always going to the doctors every fortnight for some reason.

What do you think of this situation.

i'm in a very tricky situation that i don't know how to overcome,.A recruitment agency has offered me a temporary 2 week work period job starting tommorrow.I gladly accepted not knowing that i wasn't able to take this job cos of my studies. Now i want to ring her up to say i can't take it anymore cos i'm busy. But i feel really bad, cos she has been very nice and polite to me offering this kind of work.

What is an excuse i can use to tell her that i'm not able to accept this role at this stage.I really don't really want to do this, but i just can't do the job at this stage.Advice?

I don't get the guy. Sometimes he can be very nice and other times he is an ***!!! Today he was joking about getting one of the interns fired. Hey! I am sitting right next to you and I am an intern also. How do you think that makes me feel. I wonder want kind of crap they talk behind my back. I think he is nice because it is appropriate and that it is his job. Went he is like that his cuteness disappears and out steps the beast. How should I react to this? What are the rules? He pisses me off!!! He is older than I am. He's cute. That JERK!!!

For a standard employment check. I have heard different things in the past. People always used to say that a backround check covered a 7 year period. Now I have heard that there is no time period, and that the check will go as far back as to your 18th birthday. Does this sound accurate?

I work in a chemical plant and I've heard that if you put in a 2 week notice they will tell you just not to come back for fear you will mess something up.

I can't afford to miss 2 weeks of pay. Can I draw unemployment for 2 weeks if this is the case?? It seems like being let go without just cause since I would be trying to do the right thing by giving notice I am leaving. I just got a new job so any answers would be helpful!!!

Does anyone else get really nervous about starting a new job? I may be getting offered a new job that would cause me to change residences as well as adapt to a new work environment. I am very anxious about this change. Am I unusual to feel this way? For people who get nervous about such things, how did you deal with the change and what strategies did you use to calm your nerves? Any advice will help : )

i have been at my job 7 months and it has been rough to say the least. no one was friendly to me from the get go and there were a couple of times when people were downright rude. i am generally a pretty friendly, nice person, so i didnt really understand it. i blamed it on the way i looked or the way i was acting. i started to become friendly with a couple of people i work with, but now i feel like they avoid me again. i will glance at them to say hi and some people will blatantly look away and i dont really understand it. i am fine with the 2 guys i work closely with but i feel everyone else is very judgemental of me. i dont even gossip and am nice to everyone. ive asked my boss if it's something im doing and he says im always very pleasant, so i dont really understand what to do. how do i turn this around?

I recently noticed that many large companies like McDonald's, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, other insurance companies, government agencies, and...oh, anyone who advertises...use some of the same stock photos of models in the same poses. I may see a man in a blue shirt and apron as the subject for an ad for FedEx, and another day see the same pic used for a restaurant ad. I'd love to find out more about the people who match the right photos with the advertisers. What specific line of work are these people in? Advertising? Media? Publishing? What are some of their job titles?

I interviewed for a job on Friday- one that I really hope I get. I actually forgot to send a thank you note after the interview, and it didn't occur to me until Tuesday. So I sent my interviewer an email thanking him and expressing my interest in the position.

Was this bad etiquette, or was it acceptable?
