I interviewed for a job on Friday- one that I really hope I get. I actually forgot to send a thank you note after the interview, and it didn't occur to me until Tuesday. So I sent my interviewer an email thanking him and expressing my interest in the position.

Was this bad etiquette, or was it acceptable?

Follow up your email with a written letter, better late than never.

I would say that usually sooner would be better, and a written or typed letter instead of an email would also be more professional. But it was definitely better to send an email late than nothing at all, who knows, maybe you will get that job just because of the email.

Always send a letter the same day if possible even if you don't get the job.

In this particular situation, it's a little late. They have many people vying for the same position, leave them a good impression.

Better late than never! I think you are OK. Maybe follow up with a written letter if you don't hear from them soon.

Four days is OK. I'd have put it in the US mail rather than email, but email is probably becoming more acceptable.
