I've always wondered what the buisness standard is. I know most businesses can open DOCs, but most can open PDFs too

It really depends on the company. Here at my company, they prefer PDFs but will accept DOCs. PDFs are nice because they display your resume exactly as you intended it.

Best thing to do though would be to call and ask. No employer will hate you for asking what they would prefer to receive it in. In addition, you may develop a contact in the company by doing so. Imagine walking into an interview already knowing a little about the person and most of all, their name

The standard is still .doc as nearly all businesses use Microsoft Office for word processing. It allows them to compile resumes into a single location and easily make reference notes if required.

Most of the time businesses will provide their preferred standard on the job posting. I've yet to see a single posting that will NOT accept .docs.

The business standard is in .doc format. Some firewalls will block pdf files from coming through their servers so you may end up in the spam file.

Depends on the size of the company and what they specialize in. I work for a marketing company and we prefer PDF by far.

Honestly.. I don't see many DOCs anymore.

PDFs are much better when you want to preserve formatting of your documents . It is also useful if you want to restrict access to document using security functions.
Though refer to employers requirements before sending either of them.

you should ask them. Our company can't open .doc files, and can open pdf's. Call. it's a simple question. and anyone there should be able to answer you. :) good luck!!

I prefer .doc. Its easier to share with others who might need to review the resume.

send it see attached, and attach the resume so it opens in its own window and displays any special font or other details that you want it to show.

Address the email like this.

To whom it may concern:

Thank You for your consideration
