As a non-unioned employee do I have any expectation of rights or fair treatment (aside from flat out abuse or discrimination)?? Or can a company terminate employment at their whim or move your job to another state and not provide relocation assistance?

my employer deducts our lunch break from our pay, so instead of getting paid for 8 hours per day, we get paid for 7.5. Is this legal and if not whom do I need to contact? I've never heard of this before. My state is North Carolina. Thanks

I have been through the driving record check and the drug screening, but yet to have a formal interview, where in the hiring procedure am I? There was one other person being looked at for the same position, same town as me. I am a white male, does the post office still look at minorities and females differently than me as far as equal oppurtuny employment?

My neighbor has dug out 5 foot from hillside along our shared driveway...causing me to have exess rain waters onto my carport. He claims he has no money to put in drain on his driveway for water flow, so it comes down to my house. He said the right of way allows him to dig out the hillside. I filled a portion of the hillside back in where most of the water is coming from. Which he is not happy about. Is not the right of way as much mine to do, as it is the neighbor? This matter is in Charlestion, WV. Any lawyers interested.....?

My fiance works for a company that only hires employees as contractors. As of this week they have started fining any one who doesn't show up for work $100 per day, or $20 per missed job on the route they would have gotten had they shown up, which ever is more. Is this legal? We live ohio, since labor laws may differ from state to state. Thanks if you can help.

I really hate my goddamn job. The boss is overworking and underpaying us. Our office is understaffed, I've had to cover for the boss' son & daughter in law who never show up, there's a position that's always empty cuz no one can stand to work for the person in it, no raises have been given to anyone in over a year and a half even though we've all complained. I've tried looking for other work, but no dice yet. Been here four long brutal years...enough is enough! I want to up and leave, even though I won't get unemployment for quitting instead of getting fired. But I don' t want to get fired cuz it'll look bad on a resume...what to do? I'd rather be poor than put up with this crap anymore...even though it'll mean swearing off booze and whores for a while! Haha.

I work as a janitor. My work hours is 3:00 p0m to 12:00 am Monday thru Friday and 9:00am to 12:00 pm Saturday. I was receiving overtime for Saturday four hrs. Now my employer notified me that I will have to shorten my hours so that a total of 40 hrs. will cover Saturday. Is it legal to cut my hour during the week so that I can work Saturday to equal 40 hrs. and six days a week?

I live in Illinois and cannot find a job because of a Domestic Violence Charge in Florida over 4 years ago. I know I have to state that on my application, but I've applied for over 50 jobs and have not even had a bite. If I don't put this down and they do a background check, then I'm going to look like a liar. What can I do?

I am thinking about changing careers. I have a BS in Marketing, but I may like to be a lawyer. NOT one of the sleezy bag type of lawyers either!

But I have read conflicting info on the subject of whether or not there is a need for lawyers and I heard enrollment is down in law schools.

Any Idea.

My mother works as a farmhand for some guy. The guy only employs her and one other guy. Recently in Illinois, minimum wage went up. However my mother has not received the raise in pay and now makes below minimum wage.

Can anything be done? My mother needs this job but it doesn't seem legal for her boss to pay her under minimum wage.

Also, her boss is quite the jerk. So that is why she is terrified to say anything to him because he would take it out on her and make her do extra chores!

If so what is it???? Also can a job hire you for one thing and without notice move you to another position???

The work is that of giving advice to people who want to start a business. Recently management have taken the view that CRB checks should apply because of the remote case of advicing to someone with mental problems who is considered vulnarable. The initial employment contract did not include it as a condition.

I have been placed on PC following allegations surrounding paperwork fraud. I have a vehicle which is in my contract as 'business needs' and have been told that they can now come and take it. My argument is that I am available for work and on full pay whilst the case is investigated and im therefore waiting for a call to say come to work!
It states clearly on my letter that I am still bound by my contract of employment. Anyone know anything more on this or have ever suffered the same? please its urgent !

My mother quit her job at Kroger due to moving, she gave them notice of it as well but when she moved they claimed they didn't know and gave her the run around about her papers. They didn't want her to leave because she was one of the hard workers, so much that they put on her file that she "walked out" after they tried to convince her to return but our new home was way too far for her to drive everyday and the pay wasn't all that great to begin with. Now she really needs those papers, how can we go about getting them when Kroger refuses to do so? Can we take any legal action to make them hand them over or is there some higher place to get her resignation papers? Thank you in advanced.
