Want to become an attorney but would love to get experience while working at a law firm. Plus would be if they had a benefits package that included educational assistance. Does such a creature exist? Thanks!

The only time I have heard of this is when an employee already works for the law firm and then decides to go back to law school while still working part time. It is rare and the employee that I heard of had 10 years with the firm.

Other than that, most law students with the help of the law school, try to get summer jobs in law firms (the summer following the first year of law school). These summer jobs pay great and get the student a foot in the door. It is not unusual for the law firm that the student worked for in the summer to try and get that student for part time work for the rest of the year. It is common for a law firm that already employs a person to give them paid time off to study for the Bar exam.

I have never heard of a law firm that offers educational assistance for law school. Even the most generous corporations seem to stop their educational assistance at graduate school.

The reality is that any company or law firm can easily employ a law school graduate or just licensed attorney, without having to pay any education costs. Law schools pump out more attorneys than there are jobs. The toughest thing after graduating law school is just to get a job.

I have never heard of this, but you never know. I guess if you asked, you could get a good laugh
