OK this is kind of long so bare with me...

Alright, I applied for a job a couple days ago and he was nice enough to tell me...

Well I put in my app for this new job and I told him it would be okay to call my last job, (didn’t think they would say anything bad) Well, to find out, he told me that my last supervisor told him I was a, liar, didn’t stock the coolers, stood be hide the counter all day, didn’t do anything, I was lazy, left her hanging all the time, and tons of other things.. well the truth on that was, I trained all the employees that came in and out because she said I was the best, always came to work early, called off once the whole time I worked for them, filled in for other employees(sometimes working all day) stocked the store, did everything she ever told me to do, put up with her always being on the phone and having to do her job as well, and so much more.

Is there a law against that? I thought when someone calls for a reference on another job all they were allowed to say was I wouldn’t rehire her. And that was it...because of that she’s preventing me getting another job, and where I live jobs are limited. Can anyone find me a web site stating anything about this?

Okay.. I was going to a local cubfoods to grab my grandma a newspaper and I saw a guy who left his wallet there.. I took it and put it in my pants then took it back out...because I was like "Think about he feels.... He lost his wallet.... with credit cards whats he gonna do?.." then He came back and was like "Hey did you find my wallet and I gave it back to him. I felt really guilty for even thinking about stealing it. But when I looked to my left when I bought the newspaper I saw some lady watching me. I think she saw the whole thing. So right now i'm scared that they might call the police on me even though I corrected myself.

I'm the supervisor in my department. we recently hire two new employees. I found out that they are getting pay more than me? is that legal? the new hires are male, can that be the reason why? Is it possible that the people that work under me are getting pay more and i have all the responsivilities? I spoke to my hr and they said that they have to speak to my boss about it. Is that just a load of crap or what?

From what I have read you can asure yourself of not getting hired with the wrong answer. I have tried to reasearch the salary range for the job, but its hard when the area I will be covering is so large. Former job paid to low for level of responsibility, I covered 1 state and 30 facilities, New job 19 facilities and 4 states. (potential for more facilities as co. grows)

I am about 11 classes away from my History Degree. I never put much thought into what I would do with it. I figured if all else failed, I'd teach. However, recently I have been thinking about applying for Law School. This is still way, way in the future, but I like to plan ahead. If I do, I will be attending somewhere in Texas, since I am already a Texas resident. So if you have any experience in Law at all, could you please relate that to me. Have any of you who read this question attended a Law School in Texas; if so which one? What did you do with your Law Degree once you graduated? What are the options besides being a trial lawyer? How much do you get paid (sorry, I like money...but that isn't my main reason for applying for Law School). How did you pay for Law School. What were classes like? Did you have any free time? If you are a mother, is it hard to be a Lawyer and a mom at the same time? How has having your Law

I graduated from a state school in Economics with a gpa of 3.1 Since then, I've been doing jobs that have NOTHING to do with law. The only reason I want to try law because during my college year I took a year of business law classes and did incredibly well. I remember my professor asking me why I don't give law a try and back then I wasn't interested, but now I do have a change of heart. I don't have ANY law firm working experience, and my gpa isn't very high...can I still get into a decent tier 2 law school if I did so-so on the LSATs? If the chances are slim now with my credentials, there is no point in investing time to study for them. What do you think? Please help because this would be a life decision for me.

Since my company is small and there is a chance my boss could try and fire me instead of accepting my resignation.

2007-09-20 06:55:05 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous

A family member had a discussion with their manager last week. "Man to man" they were discussing a transition the company was going through. My family member advised them that under the current conditions it was going to be very difficult for them to stay on (increased drive, a poorly staffed office, etc.) And mentioned that at some point he would have to consider other options. He also mentioned that he had been taking some classes to try to make better for himself. He did not use the words resign, quit, terminate, etc. Yesterday he received an email from his manager telling him to go ahead and turn in his resignation letter...keep it real simple and don't give any reasons. That does not sound right to me at all.
(It should be noted that in June a considerably younger employee who had been there less than a year -advised this same manager he wasn't pleased with the job and was going to school, etc. The employer did NOT ask for his resignation.)
??Is this right & what to do??

my husband/his dad was his boss. My husband fired him because he showed up only when he wanted and always 15 minutes to 2 hours late, with no excuses except "well you know how I am" anyhow my husband finally fired him after 3 years. Now my son is suing the company for "wrongful discharge" because he wasn't warned in writing. We live in Michigan, which I know is a "right to work" state. So how come a lawyer actually took his case?

I was working as a shift leader with one worker, the dayshift called in and the general manager was cussing me out in front of customers and employee that showed up. I was trying to do the customer part of job when he was doing this. And I went to clockout and he said that if i clocked out and went home to never come back to work. 5 years later, i apply to new jobs from time i was fired up until today, but everyone says i am on the no hiring list. Is this legal and if not then how do i go about getting closure on this issue and off the no hiring lists?
