Yes. You need to pass their bar exams. I know of two solicitors from England who are now attorneys in the States.
So, if you are an English solicitor and wish to work in the States, by passing their bar exams, you should have no problem. Ask first this very important question. Would you like to live in the States ?

you can move to America, i'm not sure of the exact rules but i know you need a visa, a green card. i hope it goes well for you.

He can legally work in america only if he has a work permit.
