I have a company, but I'm not registered as a company and I currently don't pay tax on what I earn (I havn't earn't much yet).

1. Where do I have to register my name and for tax?
2. Would I have to declare myself as self-employed - if so how?
3. Should it cost anything to do any of these things?

Thanks in advance!

I just started trying to sell Mary Kay and frankly I feel like a fool. I do not live in a large area and I noticed that there seems to be quite a few consultants already. I tried to research as best as I could but unfortunately I didn't come across all of them until after I bought the start-up kit, the web site and a few other items (but no inventory) to try and get going. At this point I feel like I would like to just make my money back and call it a day. I do have a debut scheduled but I am not sure if I really even want to go though with that. Any suggestions?

I've lived in 5 apartments in my life. Of all those apartments, all of the managers' attitudes have ranged from mildly rude to down right sneaky and mean! Why is this? They have also all been white women, varying in ages. The current apartment I am in has probably the worst/meanest management of all the apartments I have lived in--and that's pretty bad.

Seriously, has anyone else noticed this? They are some of the unhappiest people in the world.

Okay, my 401(k) plan investment options suck. I want to roll the money into an IRA so I can choose better (lower fee) options.

However, our plan does not offer in-service withdrawals, and I like my job.

Can I arrange a scheme with my employer where I "quit" for a period of time, unpaid, and then I am hired back? If so, can I rollover the funds while I have "quit"?

I am fully vested in my 401(k), and my employer has a written policy in place where employees who are re-hired within four years keep all their seniority benefits like vacation time and 401(k) vesting schedules, so the only thing I would lose would be my paycheck while I am in "quit" status.

If this is legal and works, how long would I have to "quit" for in order to do all the required paperwork? What risks am I incurring by trying this?

Last November 2006 I signed an agreement with a home builder to build a house for me and my family in Laurel, MD

As part of the agreement, I deposited $25,000 for the home + another $10,000 for options. The contract stated that the home was to be ready by May 2007.

- In April, they told me it will be ready June
- In June they told me late July or early August
- Now they are telling me, they don't know when it will be ready ... that maybe the second quarter of next year.

They are still building the first house and they say it is the model and until they finish that one before they can start any other house.

My question is: Can he legally keep my deposit?

P/S: There is no clause that says he can keep my deposit. I have ready over the agreement several times and there is nothing.

I am supposed to be out of my condo by December, and I have a 6 month old son and a wife (who is still in college).

It took me over siz years to save this money.... Any good lawyers out there?

I own and lived in one side of a duplex in Santa Clara County, CA.. Moved to Washington for two years and now am returing to CA and want to terminate the annual lease with my tenant to allow me to move back into the duplex as my primary residence again. I have researhed the CA Civil Code but did not find any provisions that address this action. Besides approaching the tenant to agree in writing that they will be willing to vacate and provide 90 day notice....what remedies do I have and what legal provisions can I reference?

My boyfriend is in the process of getting a home loan and his mortgage broker asked that the check for the earnest money be made out to her. I thought that the earnest money deposit was always made out to either the Title Company or Escrow Company. The check has already been cashed and I asked my boyfriend to get a copy of the front and back of check so we can see if she endorsed it and deposited into her own personal account. I've finally convinced him that he needs to pull out of this deal because her high pressure tactics seem shady and unethical. Every time he calls to withdraw, she finds another way to convince him to purchase the house. At one point she told him to just go through with the purchase of the house and she will buy it back from him two months.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because my boyfriend is not listening to me.

ok, im in australia and 17

Just got a job at kmart, but i think i am going to get a job at somewhere better im just waiting for a call.

I know you usually need to give "2 weeks notice" when you want to quit, but what actually happens if you just say "I QUIT" and dont turn up to your shifts. What can they do?

Also, i probably wont put Kmart as a reference on my resume so its not like they will be my referee and say bad things about me

Ugh, this is really bad, but anyway...
I lied on my resume syaing that I had worked before when I actually hadn't. Anyway, I got a job and the manager told me to bring in my P45 form (I think that's the equivalent of a employment certificate SC3). Trouble is I don't have one!

If I tell her that it was a casual job before and I got paid from the till, so I didn't get a form what will happen? Will revenue hunt me down and have me for fraud?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I could do?
