sounds like hes beatin an awful lot of people out of an app. fee, 11 mos. in advance.....I wouldnt put up with it, being that you have the right to re-lease.....24hr notice or not......one thing about leases, contracts, agreements.....they can be written up any old way, once there signed, they become binding........

Check your current lease to see if he has the right to do this. If it's in there, and you signed it, then he can probably get away with it. It may also be a weird tactic to get you to renew early. If I were you, and this landlord is this weird already, I'd plan on moving next year anyway. Most leases stipulate that a landlord can show the apartment when you have one or two months left on your least, AND you have told him you will not renew. If you think you may really want to stay there, then have a lawyer look at your lease and see if you can make him stop. A simple letter should do the trick.

You need to read your lease. It says what you can do and what the landlord can do.

But if he is pressing you to renew your lease 11 months in advance, then I wouldn't renew. Doesn't sound like someone I'd want to be renting from.

You can contact your local housing board and file a complaint.

sounds like the landlord is trying to force your hand to sign up now for a long term

i believe it is unreasonable to be showing a unit that will come available on 8/09 , also read your lease very carefully on your option to renew that will be the controlling authority and not what your landlord is telling you verbally on when you must renew

That must be some swanky place if he has people giving it a look 11 months before it is available. Technically he does not have to offer you the chance to renew at all and if he has someone willing to commit already he can give it to them. Sounds like he is blowing smoke to me though.

that's nonsense, until eventually you signed an addendum to the hire then the unique hire contract is the sole legally binding contract you ought to examine with for clarification in this. i think what i'm asserting is, if the hire says 60 days then 60 days it particularly is. do no longer enable him bully you. notwithstanding, in case you're making plans on renewing and you recognize this as of now, then it would not harm to enable him know, if the tenant and landlord can get alongside, everybody would be plenty happier for the time of the subsequent term.
