Need loan quickly, no scams, no up front fees need to be asked for. Have poor credit, need to pay smaller loans off, make one payment, lower. No credit councilors either.

My wife just received a collection letter from an agency that bought an old (alleged) debt she owed to Verizon from 1995. Doesn't New York State law preclude collection of debts of this sort that are more than six years old?

my limit just went up to abuot 1500 a month. but here is my Q.
If I bought something that was 1000 dollars and by the time the end of the month came up and i only paid the minimum amount or like 100 dollars a month to pay that off...would that mess up my credit? or should I only use my credit card to buy this 1000 dollar item if i have 1000 dollars in my bank? I mean whats the purpose of paying the "minimum amount" or a little higher.

Look at SWRG for 8/16 at the end of the day on both. The closing price was 10.89, but you'd never know it from the beta chart, even a day later when there's no excuse whatsoever for an incomplete chart!

I am currently contributing 6% to my 401K to get my employer to match it, then i have maxed out my Roth IRA. I still have additional income to invest and i want to know if i should start laddering some CD's, or should i put it in my 401K? I do not need access to this money now, but i want to have large CD's available when i get to retirement age. Im thinking that if i start laddering now (i'm 40) i can start out small ($1000 CD's) and slowly grow them over time.

I guess my question is which option would net me more at retirement?

Do you go thru a bank? A specialist type company? What type of fees? Do they knock down some of your balances? Do they send you a check & you thereby payoff the balances (then just have the one single bill to this new creditor)? Or do they payoff the individual accounts - then merely send you a statement to begin paying? Do they require an asset of yours to apply the loan against (collateral) like IRA's?

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!
=)

That is, does checking your credit score show as an "inquiry" into your rating like when a creditor checks, thus lowering the score, or no? Thanks!

I have a credit card which has an annual fee. I've paid off the balance and want to close it because I have another credit card with no annual fee. I've been told that if I close it, it will look bad on my credit. Is this true? Is it better to leave it open? I've been told that if you have $0 balance and leave it open, it's good for your credit. Just trying to get the truth!
