the company i worked for wrote pay checks for 30+ employees that have bounced. We are also owed our last pay which we do not have checks for yet. Is there a MA or Federal law to protect us in reference to these bounced checks?

YOur company is going under. They do by law have to pay you what you are owed because a check is like a contract to its employies. If your company goes bankrupt then you dont get a thing.

Call your local Wage and Hour Bureau that should be listed in the phone book. Also, your local Prosecuting Attorney's office should be listed too. I would call the company first, and ask for payment in cash. If they refuse, start calling the above numbers. And for Pete's sake, get another job! good luck, peace
edit: I just thought of something, The numbers you need are required by law to be posted in your place of employment. They will be on a big poster listing your rights as an employee. go get 'em.

Its illegal to bounce a check. Everyone should immeadiately stop working for the company and contact the department of labor. Ive included a link below. They will help you get your money. But do not go back to work. They obviiously can't pay you right now.

Call the states Labor Department in Boston at the state house and get the information you need. I am not sure but they might be able to get you paid. According to law workers must be paid first so it is a labor law issue.
