My credit score is getting better (723), I am wondering what kind of leverage I have with a higher score.

In the 1980's, you were expected to put your job first in your life. If you were half dead, you showed up and worked. Now, everyone says My family comes first, I don't care about my job. Neither of these attitudes does it for me, each one stresses me at work. Will the pendulum ever strike a good balance?

I have not sued because this person owes other people money and sold his house to his father for $1 ( he has no assets and would not pay a court order anyway). Can I put a lean on his father's other property? The $1 house was bought by the city to improve the street it was on. That house has already been demolished.

I bought a house last year in ohio, in a very desirable area (historic district). It's a waterfront home with an awesome view of the river. Since the market was so bad I got a great price for it, plus it didn't have much curb appeal and wasn't as kept up as nice as it could be. Unfortunately I love the house (and view!) but I absolutely hate living in ohio, and really want to move back to the east coast. I made a lot of improvements (landscaping, new flooring, blinds, etc) and the house looks really good, but I'm still nervous to try and sell it next summer. Is the real estate market projected to improve next year? I have heard of this 5 year rule, where you have to live in a home for at least five years if you hope to make a profit when selling, or at least to cut even. I do not want to live here several more years! I'm thinking I could hold on to the house for another year and rent something on the east coast, and try to sell the house when the market improves. Any advice?

I just read an article about a western Massachusetts town that has begun distributing paper money called Berkshares with the intention of keeping the profits within the community.
The idea, I think, is great! but how can this town use this currency while still keeping counterfeiters at bay? Where does a town like this have their currency printed? How much does it cost to have the money printed, and who absorbs the cost?

My husband and I moved out of our apartment last year. We did break the lease so there are some charges we are responsible for, but I think we are being ripped off? (we owe about $2200 of the $4,558 they are trying to collect)

If we received a statement from the aprtment complex right after moving that we disputed charges (like carpet cleaning, etc) and requested itemized statements and receipts for those charges, how long do they have to get back to us? We made the request Dec 06 when we got the first statement from the apartment complex and just now are getting a letter from a collection agency that we owe and they are going to report us to the credit bureaus? Don't they have to attempt to collection the debt first before reporting to the bureaus? This is the only other contact other than the first statement we got that we requested receipts and had disputed. Is there some kind of statue of limitations or laws allowing x amount of much time to collect before reporting?

I feel partially responsible for this because I've been too nice (or cowardly) to tell her that the way she talks to me is annoying and somewhat hostile. This co-worker is a 50-something at a dead-end position making crappy pay. At first, I took her joking ways as playful and harmless. But lately, the other girls at work are following her lead. They collectively tell me to get them coffee, do this, do that. They recommend that I should have fun w/ my wife more. They ask why aren't I doing anything fun with my wife. Why am I so boring. And on and on w/ the personal stuff. They even accused me of being gay at one point. I'm a 20-something graduating student. Part of me wants to tell her off. The other part wants to ignore her because in the long run, I'm better off than her. What do you think I should do?

my available balance was £284, since then, i've used my debit card for things that came to £100 and also today, i had a credit of £200, yet my available balance is still £284, it should have gone down to £184, then back up to £384, just phoned the bank, got a very snotty woman who was so unhelpful, i have £100 overdraft limit, so she said my balance is £453, with £168 to leave the account, taking my available balance to the £284 showing on the screen. Can you tell me if you think the £100 overdraft will be added to that £284? or have i royally screwed up?

I have a PC Financial No-Fee Savings and Chequing account. I recently put a cheque in my savings, and my balance is about 510.00 But when I try to withdraw just 20.00, the machine says my transaction was cancelled due to insufficient funds.

I have 510.00, but 0.00 is available for some reason. What can I do? I want my money, now!

We would like to make an offer on a home with a list price of $368,900. The home is located in the suburbs of Athens, GA where the market is slow, especially in this price range. We of course don't want to insult them with a low offer but of course want to get the best possible price. I'm not sure how long the home has been on the market but the owners have already vacated the property in the last week and relocated due to a job transfer.

Also, if we used the seller's agent as our buyer's agent would he have more flexibility with the price since he will be earning both buyer and seller commission? For instance, wouldn't he find it more beneficial to take 5% commission, lowering the price or us and giving the seller more money rather than taking 3.5% for representing the seller?

Head office in US, and I am based outside of N. America in our satellite office that take cares the Asia and Europe market.

After opening several markets in different countries in 11 months but been working with the company for 2 years, I was laid off due to downsizing.

As a director of the satellite office, I was asked to take a 3 month unpaid leave and also be paid until the end of the current month.

It came a little bit too soon and too fast, as 3 business deals are in the middle of closing and the companies will not deal with anyone else in my company except for me due to my language skills.

What is the best solution? Should I assist in closing the deals or should I just leave it and let the company deal with it themselves?

Also, not getting my 3 months compensation...should I go after the company or just leave it?
