Head office in US, and I am based outside of N. America in our satellite office that take cares the Asia and Europe market.

After opening several markets in different countries in 11 months but been working with the company for 2 years, I was laid off due to downsizing.

As a director of the satellite office, I was asked to take a 3 month unpaid leave and also be paid until the end of the current month.

It came a little bit too soon and too fast, as 3 business deals are in the middle of closing and the companies will not deal with anyone else in my company except for me due to my language skills.

What is the best solution? Should I assist in closing the deals or should I just leave it and let the company deal with it themselves?

Also, not getting my 3 months compensation...should I go after the company or just leave it?

It sounds like the company is in rocky financial shape - you'd be wise to look for a different company to work for.

In the meantime, if helping close the pending deals won't take too much of your time during the unpaid leave, and if it looks like the company will actually be around to service the customers if you close the deals, I'd help out with them. But first I'd ask the home office people for some indication that the company will be around to service them.
