To start, I am now pretty humbled. I was making 60k a year, driving a new sports car, and living life happily with minimal debt. My wife and I made some poor financial decisions and I was left with a bit debt after our divorce. It is now at a point where with the economy, working in the sales field, I am only making just under 40k. I have 22k left to pay on the car at $550 a month, paying about $320 a month in gas to travel to my job, about 20k in unsecured debt. I had to abandon my lease in the apartment that I was living in so i have no clue what I owe to them. I tried to trade the vehicle in for something different but trade in is only worth 15k, so about 7k in negative equity, and with a low to mid 500 credit score, nobody is willing to work with me. I have thought about filing a bankruptcy, but even at 40k a year, I am above my means for a chapter 7 bankruptcy according to lawers, and breaking too even per month on a chapter 13. Maybe someone has a idea of a solution. thanks.

Is it a scam or fraud if some one sends you a check in the mail for 2,000 dollars to pay taxes and administration fees for money that they say you have won ($50,000). It's from a agent called Latex Finance Incorporated, an agent of Euro-Million Lotteries. The check looks legit. the check has Netzero-Department CRM , Woodland Hills, CA, in the upper left corner and the name of the bank is Silicon Valley Bank/ Mellon Bank, N.A. Pitsburg, PA. could this be a real check

Are there any investors who invest in stock options that have created an extra income for themselves? There is a difference between INVESTING and Working for a Living (paycheck). I have been investing in LONG CALL optrions recently. Opened an account with a deep discount brokerage-only $5.00 per trade.. I found one stock-an ETF INDEX option that seems to be working in my favor. Since most foreig market INDEXES seem to move in an upward trend i feel comfortalbe with it. It is the iShares MSCDI CANADA ETF. I have bought and sold it 2 times at a profit each time. It returned more than 50% each trade in 2 months. The discounted broker commission helps me keep more profit to. But again, is it possible to create a second income by trading LONG CALL stock options? Thanks

Someone just told me that a mortgage loan officer cannot do his/her own loan for a property that he/she is going to buy. The reason is that the agent might exagerate information to qualify for the loan (Conflict of interest). Is this true?? In other word, this mortgage loan officer has to hire someone else to process this loan

We had a financial advisor who signed us up for mutual funds. We pay $140 a month. We have been paying this for the last 3 years. It says on our statements that it has a face value of $27,000. What does that mean? My financial advisor explained this in a very complicated way and I didn't understand how mutual funds work. Can some put them in "Mutual funds for Dummies" terms?

Basically I have a normal non demanding job. I'm pretty experienced at repairing Air conditioners, heating units and the like. I already own all the tools needed and have the means to purchase any repair parts I need to repair peoples AC units on my own. My questions are how do I go about doing this on my own? What about taxes and licensing? I don't have a business license or insurance. I was thinking of just running an ad in the paper or on craigslist to get a few clients. I'm not looking at a full time job here just a little extra on the side. Are there any legalities I should be worried about? Any liabilities? I know the job but I just don't know a lot about the business side of it. I want to start small and if it works out it can grow to something bigger. I'm in the state of Virginia if that helps and would appreciate any advice on where to look for answers.
