For 16 years, I've been working as a Dept. Manager for a supermarket, and for 11 years I've been leaving work at 12 PM on Fridays, due to a personal matter. Last July, I was transferred to a different store, where the store manager told me that he does not want me to, and will not let me leave early on Fridays anymore. He said that I am a full time employee, and need to work anytime the business needs me. (Oh. did I mentioned I work every Saturday, Sundays, and holidays whatever the hours they schedule?)
As an immediate reaction I decided that I would look for another job, and that I would be calling in everytime they scheduled me on Friday afternoons. Is it reasonable?
Am I entitled to choose which day of the week I want off? Can Shaw's (Ooops, I named it, didn't I?) write me up for not wanting to work Friday PMs? If they write me up, is it Ok if don't sign the warning form? Do I have arguments to sue the company in case they fire me?
