How does lets say Tom(myspace) make money from myspace? Because myspace is a free site, you dont have to pay to use the website. SO how do those website owners make thier money?

They sell advertising, the more traffic they get - the more they can sell advertising space for. Edit: Many very popular sites eventually sell some paraphernalia like tshirts or bumper stickers, but that doesn't bring in much money.

It all depends from what angle you are coming from. I f I am not mistaken, Myspace earns revenue via advertising. And, if you use "myspace" for the purpose of also advertising, it is also a win, win for them because they have even more people who will see the advertisements! Hence your myspace is really their space for the most part!
