I like H&R Tax Cut. It's generally cheaper than Turbotax and I've been pleased with it. Turbotax is good too.

If they offer a rebate on e-filing, do it. It's much faster and more accurate because there's no data entry when the clerks read your return and type it in.

Often they offer no e-filing rebate on state returns. Screw them then. I'm doing the state a favor by e-filing, as its more accurate and saves them labor costs. I print it out and mail it in. When they are enlightened enough to rebate it, I'll do it.

I agree with Airbob. I have been using Turbotax for several years and am living evidence that it is idiot-proof.

Turbo-tax has software that is idiot proof and can be used to file both federal and state taxes.

turbotax if your filing them yourself. this way they ask all questions one at a time so you have the opportunity to see them all and not miss anything and cover your a**. they walk you through every detail so you find every deduction and every credit owed to you
