My husband and I have been separated since March of 2006; I will not have any dependents except for my son who is in college. (he is 22) Can I claim Single? I know head of household is an option, but the home I live in is owned by my soon-2-be-ex's mother, and we have an agreement that my rent is in lieu of child support. I do pay the water bill, the electric bill and phone bill, the utilities are in MIL name and the phone bills are in soon-2-be-ex's, so if I had to prove the fact I pay more than half of the income, I may have a hard time coming up with proof. (Being these bills have been being paid from a joint checking acct, but coming out of my child support that is deposited into that acct. and then what I have left over the soon-to-be-ex gives me the balance I have left from my child support. This has changed as of this month, as I have my own checking acct. now my child support will be deposited into MY acct. now, but the past 6 months of proof is the problem.)

Appraisal went down by $1,500 within 3 years. Can diamonds go down in value? or should we get a second opinion? The person that appraised the ring is a GIA member. We don't want to insure a ring with a lower value.

We are selling our home and it is going on 7 weeks on the market. What should we expect from our realtor. She doesn't follow up on prospects, doesn't ask about how the flyers are doing, isn't aggressive in seeking potentials that come to open houses. I feel like we are selling the house. The website stunk and we rewrote the ad and updated her with better pictures. Are we expecting too much or is she not doing enough? Anyone who can give advice that has experience in selling with a realtor is greatly appreciated!

I haven't been able to get in touch with any job recruiters or headhunters because they claim there are none for journalism. Is this true? I am so desperate to get any job in my feild so I can work my way up, but I can't get that first job. I haven't even gotten more than 1 interview, and I've been applying for jobs for a year now.

What should I do? I am not exactly his best friend but i have revealed other things to him that people have said. This is a bit different as more people have indicated that they are offended. Maybe a note or something? I am open to all ideas as I am tired of being the one to bring the bad news to him-why do i get put in this position anyway. Only positive remarks please I need a solution and if possible a way to convey this message to him. Others could go to our offsite management folks and i could end up with a new much worse boss!

I am looking for a quick and easy way to find the average rent amounts for single family homes and multi-units for any neighborhood in the country. I would rather visit a single source, then have to look up available apartments in each of these locations. Any suggestions? Ten points to whoever gives me the best answer with a reference first.

My dog needs an operation, she's torn her cruciate ligament (her knee) and is limping and in pain. She means the world to me and I need to get it done ASAP - it tears my heart out to see her in pain. The operation will cost around $500 plus boarding fees for a few days. How can I save money within a short amount of time (i.e. a month at worst), while still paying bills and debts off?!

Please don't reply if you hate dogs or are going to be negative about spending a large sum on a dog.

I am genuine and I hope those who answer this are too.

My father-in-law was the primary beneficiary in a life insurance policy for my mother-in-law. Since receiving the money, he uses it to buy drugs and drinks all the time. He also has a restraing order against him and two DUIs cases pending. Is there anything that his three children can do to get the money away from him?
