No, you cannot get fired, legally, and most HR teams are VERY sensitive and responsibe to verbal abuse. Explain how harassing and violent the incident may have been and how you tried to avoid the entire scenario and HR will support you. Congratulations, it's usually best to grin and bear it but sometimes the threat is REAL, or at least seems like it. Good Luck.

Supposedly not. But they can fire you for some unrelated reason, and, just try to prove it was because of the verbal abuse or profanity thrown at you. Very difficult chore, unless there were witnesses that would be willing to tell what they heard. Good luck to you.

this is undoubtedly a polictical issue

most companies in private and public sector are at will and can fire you with no reason
you bear the burden of proving you were discriminated against
if the person in question is popular or the head honcho-yep they might fire you
in fact you probably think they might or esle you wouldnt be asking us
i suggest you get another job, put in your resignation, leave on good terms and then get a lawyer.

I hope this helps!

Sure... you can get fired for anything... parking in the bosses parking space, arriving to work 4 minutes late, stealing a company ball point pen... you name it ! But you can always seek the advise of an attorney so that you can pursue any legal recourses that may apply to your situation ! Sue if you do !!!

It depends on whether you're taking an issue to hr or bringing an issue to hr. If you're taking an issue to hr, you could get fired, but if you're just bringing an issue to hr, probably not. I'd bring the issue to hr, as opposed to taking it to them.

It depends on what state you live in or who your employer is. In a right to work state, in the private sector, you can get fired for anything, at anytime.

you need to go through your chain of command.
you start with your supervisor. then when you feel that things are not being corrected you go to their supervisor. you continue the "chain of command" until it is resolved. and be sure to document everything.
