Our downstairs neighbour say that they are not liable for roof and communal building repairs. We think the rules up here in Scotland are slightly different than in the rest of the country.

Someone offered me a property for free and said all taxes are paid up to date. I was wondering what costs i would have if i agreed to take the home. What are aproximate fees? because i am a college student and dont have much money. but it can be used to rent out. Is there any way that i can be scammed by this?

What do you think about a nationwide company with over 9,000 employees still not paying their employees at one location their Christmas bonuses? Granted it is rumored to be about $50.00 yet many depend on every penny of this,it is January....i'm sure the CEO isn't losing any sleep but WTF?

Last July, our builder parked a work truck on the street blocking our driveway and we had our landscape trailer parked IN our driveway. While it was parked there and his men were working in the driveway, somehow it rolled down the driveway and hit the gate of the truck with the top of the trailer frame, scratching the truck's paint. The builder said, "Don't worry about it", but of course we didn't get a release signed. In December, we made a large claim against our new home warranty. Lo and behold, we just received a copy of a repair estimate for $500 for the truck, and a letter from the builder requesting payment. First of all, the estimate contains $200 of charges listed as "misc" beyond the paint and labor costs. Second, it seems excessively high. We are really upset at this and are fairly certain that the builder has used this as a way to recover some of the costs for our home repair and get revenge. Should we file an insurance claim? Request an estimate from another shop?

My mother will be 65 in August and will be filling out the paperwork three months before that. She has cataracts, and will need surgery. She is having some difficulty getting scheduled with the Dr. she is seeing now, so it is likely she will have to change doctors and have the surgery after she becomes elligible for medicare.

My questions:

Does medicare cover preexisting conditions, and if not, could this be an exception b/c she might have to wait to have the surgery anyway?

Also, what % does Medicare typically cover? She will be purchasing supplemental insurance, so can anyone provide some info or advice about that.

Thanks.

so I cant get unemployment benefit for 6 weeks, BUT the question is that how can I prove that what did I do wrong which sounds like misconduct, should I hire attorney, should I ask the unemployment office to first tell me what was misconducted and be more specific . because its not fair to blame that I was fired because of misconduct without knowing the reason, I suppose to appeal.
whatever my ex supervisor told the unemployment office they believed him, but I dont know what is the misconduct for.
please help me.
thanks

I started a side business this year (last three months of the year) that had income of $19,500 and expenses of $20,000 which gives me a small net loss for the year. Do I have to pay any federal taxes or social security or self employment taxes or any tax for that matter even though I have a net loss for the year? I am worried that I might need to make an estimated tax payment next week. please help....

I HAVE BEEN HAPPYLY MARRIED FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW. MY WIFE AT SOME POINT OWES THE IRS/GOVERNMENT FOR STUDENT LOANS. LAST YEAR WHEN SHE FILED SHE HAD NO RETUNE BECAUSE OF HER DEBT. SHE FILED MARRIED/HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD. I IN TURN WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS I FILED MARRIED/ FILING SEPARATE AND I HAD MY RETURN AS DUE. SO MY QUESTION IS IF WE FILE JOINTLY THIS TIME WILL THEY TAKE WAY MY OWN SHARE OF RETURN DUE BECAUSE SHE IS STILL OWING THE GOVERNMENT AND HAS NOT FINISHED PAYING HER STUDENT LOAN. WHAT WILL IS BE IF WE BOTH FILE MARRIED BUT SAPERATELY. EITHER WAY WHICH WAY WILL I GET THE BEST OF MY RETURN. IF WE ARE TO FILE SAPERATELY WHO HAS TO FIL AS HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD AND WHAT WILL BE THE ADVANTAGE IN TERMS OF THE MOST MONEY WE/ I CAN GET FROM MY RETURN. (Sorry for the caps I had already typed in the question)

I mean I work for a credit card company and I can see on my computer how much money each person that calls in makes.

Lets say 2 people both get busy around the holiday time, and both customers forget to send in their bill. Both get a $39.00 late fee.

The people that make over $200,000 plus a year will complain until they are blue in the face over the fee. Also use lines like " Fine I will just take my money somewhere else" or you dont care about me as a customer because you charged me this fee.

While the same person that makes $20,000 a year will be like, oh man I forgot about that one because I was so busy, I will just have to be more carefull next time.

I dont get it!?!? Do you???

I am a freelance computer technician so nobody's paying for our health insurance. I make about $2,500/months after tax. My wife stays home. We both are healthy. I am 37 years old. My wife is 31 years old. We might be having kids soon. We rent 2 bed 1 bath apartment for $900/ months. We both drive older model economy cars which are paid for. I visited few health insurance websites but they have so many different options I don't know which one is good. Can anybody give us some hints about which coverage we should get? We are interested in getting PPO instead of HMO. So many options and we just cannot decide. Thanks.
