I've been interviewed for jobs before, but this will be my first(what i consider) formal interview. Should I treat this differently because it is an internship? Would it be advisable to have some examples of school work I've done? Any advice would be appreciated.

Most companies that have an internship program do so because they are investing in thier future workforce. Sometimes it is because the field is hard to find good candidates in and they must start early and bring in young talent before someone else gets it. They really use the intern program as a farming system to bring in talent and groom the individuals to fit in thier organization.

So there are two keys: 1) have a high energy level, and 2) make it clear that you are not looking for an internship only but a longer term career.

The fact that you have the interview indicates you have met the qualifications on paper. Now you have to distinguish yourself among the other candidates as a good bet for the future.

First, research the company if you can, the person interviewing you, so you first know what your talking about, who your talking to and I've found it impresses the company.

Then I would try to include any coursework and extracurricular activities that relate to the internship. Maybe go to the career counseling office or a proffesor and ask them to look over your resume. They may be able to help you rewrite your resume. If you dont have it now, buy a nice suit. Keep your cosmetics and jewelry simple and clean. If you dont get it, there will be other oppertunities.

Good luck.

bring whatever you have but just to have it with you in case it comes up than you can be prepared..............let them take the lead and give them what they want....we would not tell people the time just because we wear a watch, we wait for them to ask...yes ......stand up straight, look em in the eye and have a firm handshake....compliment them and tell them you are impressed with their company....
