I am 35 yrs old, how much Total should I have saved for retirement?

Depends on when you want to retire and with how much income, but you sould be over $100,000 to be on track for any kind of retiremnt before 65.

At this rate today, I'm thinking i will need about a little more than a million. A half or two.

Enough to survive 40 years (If you smoke) or 50 years (If you don't smoke)
