Just go talk to him. I wouldn't think that he would be mad at you or anything because you're not the one complaining. And when people complain to you about your boss you should tell them that you really don't want to hear any complaints about him. Tell them to talk to him themselves.

I assume you have a good relation with your boss and you have earned it with good work. I also believe he does not curse you and other good workers.
I would not play in other peoples hands and will not feel that important. It is between boss and others let them sort it. If your boss solicits your opinion then you can share the truth.
Please do not put your own relation at stake for non performers and poor communicators. Those are the two categories who get stuck in that kind of rut.
If you believe your boss is one of those, then move on.

It sounds like your boss has a temper and if you really want to keep this job, don't do anything that will offend this person. If people complain, tell them they can send him a letter about the behavior that makes them uncomfortable. You can tell them that he is your boss and they will have to send him a note as you do not have authority over his behavior. Or, you can just tell the people, "I am sorry he is making you uncomfortable. He is not himself today." You won't earn brownie points by criticizing him. That is not your job.

Gently suggest that his vocabulary is offensive to others and can be misconstrued as ignorance, laziness, bullishness, etc. and only causes negative feelings of ill-will in the office. Show him some different styles of displaying his anger, dislike, confusion: like confronting all issues head-on with positive, sincere, thoughtful comments. Also, by you assisting him in cleaning up his language he will love you greatly later on and respect you dearly. Be consistent and very clever, not sarcastic nor rude.
Best of Luck to you.

If your co-workers have a problem with his cursing they need to tell him. I don't think it's your job to let the boss know what is offending some people. They need to tell him that they are offended, and if that doesn't work they need to go to his boss if he has one. Good Luck!

Stay out of it, honey. If he's nice to you personally then smile sweetly and keep stum [quiet.]
