can your former employer report to a perspective employer that you quit your job without a notice?

In general, NO. However, if it is the same industry or the person might know each other or in the same County such information are spoken out by your former employer especially if you really did quit without a notice or if there were issues that resulted you quiting from your previous employer.

T hey are not suspose to be able to do that but, i would't be surprised if they sometimes do tell more than they are allowed by law.
