I feel as if my entire life is crumbling around me. I was just notified today that even though I tried to get caught up on my second mortgage that the bank is starting forclosure action anyway, after takeing several payments from me. My husband just found out that his drivers license has been suspended for three months. I can't afford to pay car insurance, medical insurance so I have neither. Now I am worried that I will lose my home on top of everything else. What will I do, where will we all live. If it was just me, I wouldn't be so worried. I have two teenagers who I must have shelter for. My credit score is so bad that I'm worried if I lose my house I would not even be approved to get an apartment. On top of everything else I found out that we owe the IRS 6K in back taxes, which must be paid by the end of the month. Hah! Someone please tell me that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that it's not going to be a train.

I have been trying for a very long time to get hired on at the local jail as a jail officer and at a prison for a correctional officer. I want to go into criminal justice and I think it would be an excellent start. My work history is bad, I got fired at my last job, walked out of the one before that, and got fired at the job before that and on my crimainal background I was convicted of 2 misdemeanors 5 years ago and 1 misdemeanor 8 years ago. I live in GA. They said that its not having an effect on the hiring decision. I just want to know what I can do besides getting my record expunged right now to get the job and what is the best thing to put on my applications since I have a bad work history. I mean I know honesty is the best thing, but what do I do?

CPAs, tax prep professionals, please, or someone who has studied this extensively and recently:

i own a few corporations. one of them is a subchapter s corporation that was not making money for a while. in 2006, it did make money, so on 3.15.07, a new income tax return must be filed. OLD INCOME TAX RETURNS for this corporation were lost.

i prepare all my corporations' returns. this corporation had depreciable assets which it still owns. in addition, i had elected the one-time option to put old unused losses (?) onto future gains.

i need to know:

how to i restart the depreciation? or can't i?

what do i do with gains that i want to offset with old losses?

any other advice?

THANKS!

It's the part of the income tax form that you put in how much you made. Do you put in your gross or how much you got after taxes??

I have a full-time job unrelated to the securities industry and I use a discount broker to manage my investments and would like to benefit from lower capital gains tax rates for my investment profits.

My goal is to hold about 50-70 securities (ETFs, equities) in my portfolio at any given time and I anticipate holding each security for at least 6 months before disposing/selling it. I'd like to add to my positions gradually via dollar-cost averaging and use covered calls to reduce the cost basis. My intent would be to execute about 10-20 buy transactions per month (often I'd be adding to existing positions) and perhaps about 5 sell transactions per month. Would using such a strategy put me at any risk for being flagged an active trader and subject to having gains taxed as income instead of the more favorable capital gains (w/ 50% inclusion) rate?

Furthermore, does the use of 15-20% margin significantly affect one's susceptibility to being flagged as an active trader?

I have a friend who wants to be a lawyer someday but she's having second thoughts about it. She always feel dsicouraged whenever somebody says a negative remark of this job. They say that this job will only make you an expert liar. When you have a client ang admitted that his a murderer, as a lawyer you should do all you can to prove that your client is innocent though he/she is not and that's lying.
