16 yr old teenage girl. (Hates dresses.)

Also, I'm wondering, how should I put my hair? Should I wear makeup? Anything unique I need to say?

A nice shirt and dressy pants would look nice, Sunday clothes are officially the safest attire for interviews.

Your hair should be up if longer than shoulder length.
Make up ? If you normally use makeup , wear it. Come the way you would normally look daily. A bit of lipstick and mascara is normal.

Smile and look friendly. Do a bit of research on the history of the store: This first link is the one you should pay attention to.

You should be neatly dressed and you don't have to wear a dress or skirt!

You can wear your hair up or down...it makes no difference. If your hair is very long I would suggest that you pull it back in a pony-tail, preferably a low one. This will show that you are conscious of the fact that you'll be working around food items.

Your makeup should be rather conservative...nothing outrageous. You are a fresh faced girl and you should look like one.

Since Kroger employees wear khakis and a uniform shirt, wear clean, pressed khakis. Make sure that they are not "low riders". Look for Dockers or Lee khakis that are wrinkle and stain resistant. They will serve you best and save you lots of time when you're doing the laundry.

Do not wear a shirt that is low cut or shows your midriff. You're applying for a job not looking for a boyfriend. This is business not playtime so keep the skin display to a minimum.

Be sure to remember you manners...sit up straight, speak clearly and avoid slang. Listen very carefully to what is being said or asked. Be respectful in your answers and if you don't understand a question ask the interviewer to please restate the question or rephrase the question.

You'll have the opportunity and will need to ask questions too! Make sure that you're clear on the duties and hours that you'll be expected to work. (Your state or local government may limit the hours in which you may work and/or the number of hours you may work. Do some research on this before your interview.)

If the interview progresses to the extension of a job offer make sure that you're clear on the rate of pay, the pay period and the method of payment (check, direct deposit, etc.). (In some companies the workweek or pay period is Monday through Sunday but others use other days to start the workweek like Wednesday through Tuesday.)

Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Generally you want to wear something similar to what they wear on the job. I think they wear just slacks and a button up shirt. Try to wear something that matches what they wear at work. They probably wear an apron but don't wear that...that's a bit much! Lol! Just slacks and a button up shirt.

Go to the Kroger where you are applying and see what they look like.

I would wear cotton pants...like Dockers and a simple solid color shirt. Clean face, little or no makeup.

Good luck, Be ready to do a math test I had to do one when I interviewed with one of their companies, They also will not give you time off for social events if you are scheduled for a certain time you have to work it, I worked with many teens and one needed the day off for an ROTC event and they would not give it to him, and some had to work during prom, so keep that in mind while applying. I would advise looking elsewhere for a job and I commend you looking, but they are not easy people to work for.

Addendum: looks like everyone has given you good advice, save one who gave the rest of us thumbs down. again good luck to you.
