I have been trying for a very long time to get hired on at the local jail as a jail officer and at a prison for a correctional officer. I want to go into criminal justice and I think it would be an excellent start. My work history is bad, I got fired at my last job, walked out of the one before that, and got fired at the job before that and on my crimainal background I was convicted of 2 misdemeanors 5 years ago and 1 misdemeanor 8 years ago. I live in GA. They said that its not having an effect on the hiring decision. I just want to know what I can do besides getting my record expunged right now to get the job and what is the best thing to put on my applications since I have a bad work history. I mean I know honesty is the best thing, but what do I do?

be honest & tell them the truth. be confident, explain why you think you would do a good job..tell them you are reliable, hard working ,etc. be sure & tell them at the end of the interview that " I really want the job"

First off if you lie on an an application and it is found out you are subject to immediate dismissal. That applies to any job in any field just about. and it doe snot matter if you have had the job 10 years you can still be let go for a lie on an application.

Now as for your career in Criminal Justice. I doubt if you can get 3 offenses expunged. Anyone can make a mistake. That is what expungment is for, it is not for repeat offenders! And you my friend are a repeat offender.

Check it out, criminal record, bad work record. I am surprised you can get a job at a Dairy Mart let alone in criminology.

AND you have to go to school, specifically to be a police officer of any type! Or a guard.

But seriously with your criminal record and your job history I think you need to rethink your career goals and get some that you have some chance of achieving. And you can start by getting a job holding it for year, at least, and leave it the proper way so you have good refferences

Pray. -You've got an awful lot of negative history behind you, & that sure isn't helping your case any. Maybe if you move to another State like Alabama or Mississippi where they're desperate for correction officers - you'll have a chance of getting the kind of job you want. There's always hope. Good luck.
