I want to go to law school but need to work less hours (40-50max) and was wondering what others thought of JD's being paralegals. Or, do lawyers really work more than 50 hrs a week on average? I really like contracts, IP, and natural law. I am a single parent and really need to be home at a decent hour.

Would it be better to pay save at 2% in a bank account to pay a 10% car payment off for a series of months or invest in a CD that you can add to lets say 4000 each month or more that's compounded @ 4.8% and monthly. I'm going with the CD for no but I really am unsure. If a huge amount of money poured in to pay off the car I definitely would but for now should I just let the CD continue to grow until I have enough to pay off the car

Due to unethical business practices 2 of 3 partners would like to dissolve the company - the third partner (responsible for the acts) wishes to continue - how should the valuation of assets be distributed - if based on market value the assets would sell for peanuts - plus intangible assets like clients, company market reputation would also be benefiting him

New development phase is low-income. Some people may qualify for assistance thru the local government for help with the down payment or closing costs... however, only half of the neighborhood is considered receiving the subsidy..everyone else is a straight-up purchase with no help.

I'm curious if anyone has experience purchasing this way - and if so - how did that help or hurt the resell value?

I want to send £1000 to my friend in Australia. Barclays used to charge £8 for an international money order in Australian dollars, but I have been told they only do them in US dollars, sterling and euros now, and the cost is £25. I do not know my friend's bank account details, so a money order seems the only option. Any suggestions please?

I am a realestate agent. Real estate agents are generally considered contract employees, paid by commission, and issued 1099's instead of w-2's. The person I work with is always slow to pay me, as they are always waiting for a check to come in.

I am owed some additional money for this month and have not received it. I probably will not receive it until late next week (into 2007).

Has anyone else had an experience like this? I'm fed up with never knowing when I will get paid and am considering packing up and leaving without notice if I don't get paid by Tuesday of next week.

Any opinions?

I tracked all of my spending in 2006 which is great, but looking back I feel that I miscategorized things and some of the reports aren't showing me want I need to know. How detailed does one need to get when it comes to spending at somewhere like Wal-mart? For instance, I buy groceries there, but I also buy cleaning supplies, pet supplies, an occassional sweater, household appliances... etc. Do I categorize those as "groceries" under one unbrella or is it better to take the receipt and make categories for each thing? I don't mind the work - but I don't want to overkill either. I am looking to spend my money in better ways. What is the rule of thumb for this problem? Any help is appreciated.... If you can recommend a source or book that would be excellent!!!

Note: this isn't just about multiple line items - how can I show expense reimbursements and payments to corporate card without it looking like spending/income... stuff like that...

I work a regular full-time job and normally file a W2 form on my taxes every year with zero dependants. This year however, I began selling designer handbags on Ebay in November and have since grossed about $10,000 more or less. With this additional income, how do I claim a return on my taxes for this. It is alot of money and I want to report it to the IRS because I dont want them knocking my door down later. Is there another form that I have to file instead or do I keep using the same W2 to file both incomes? I have no idea about this stuff and tax season is coming up so I definetly want to be prepared. Please advise! Thanks!
