For low level positions or assistant manager positions like say at a walmart or movie theater or something, do employers usually actually check with your past employers? Do they go through any kind of actual computer check? Like what if I worked at a job that might not show up on some computer program but my old boss could attest to me working there?

I want to know are there any real business men out there such as jewerly or anything that has to do with traveling and going to meeting in big cities across the world i am 20 years old and in this past year i have been scammed 20,000 usa dollars by scammers from UK and Nigeria. My life is ruined and because of those UK scammers i had to drop out of school so please if you even know anybody please reply to me thank you.

help! I have an article review due in the morning for my accounting class. It is an Ethics Paper over something in the current news having to do with ethics (duh..).. but I can't find anything. In the past people have done articles about Enron, Martha Stewart, etc.

I have heard that in some states it is not legal to "ruin" someones credit when they cancel a cell phone contract, by charging early cancellation fees. But I am have difficulty finding such a law. Any help?

The landlord could not afford to fix the septic tank so the tenant decided to move out at the end of this month but didnt pay the rent for December. Is this legal and does the landlord have a chance of getting the December rent in small claims court?
This was on a lease purchase and in the state of Georgia

I spoke to a loan officer about refinancing my mortgage, and he spoke of a benefit to buyer clause that would not allow a mortgage to be refinanced unless there was a "benefit to the buyer". Does anyone know more about this? Where can I find more info about this?

But we still owned our house in West Virginia, which did not sell until March of 2006, even though we listed it immediately upon moving. We did NOT live in WV at all in 2006, nor did we make any income, except a small profit on the sale of our house. The amount we made on the sale was well below the married couple exemption of 500,000 dollars, and we were in that house for 5 years before we moved and sold it.

So, the question is: Do we need to file a 2006 state tax return for WV, given that we did not live there, nor make any income there in all of 2006 other than the profit from the house sale?

I was recently "let go" (their words) from a company, and I'm wondering if I was laid-off or fired.

I thought they were the same thing, but my friends said that it's laid-off if you are eligible collecting unemployment, fired if you're not. I am eligible for unemployment. And I was the only one whose job was terminated.
