One example I have seen is a Nintendo Wii advert which involved a couple of spoken words in a voiceover but otherwise absolutely no sound. Do you think this is effective? And can you name any other adverts that use a similar technique?

Can you name any adverts with really motivating music that have made you consider becoming a consumer of the brand?
Or any emotionally moving adverts that may have persuaded you to do something, especially because of the use of the music? (eg. public service ads).

Joe D. owned and operated a general construction business. He recently was successful in obtaining a bid to build a new athletic facility. Although his company could do most of the work, he needed to hire other contractors to do parts of the job, such as cement contractors and welders to lay the foundation of the building. He selected Cem-Steel as the subcontractor to lay the foundation and the steel work. During the cement work, Jane Sprint, an employee of Cem-Steel, was hospitalized due to the large number of cement particles she had inhaled. Her employer,CemSteel, had not provided protective mouth masks. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cites Joe D. for violation of its regulation about protective gear requirements.

Staffing and retention are major issues in service industry businesses today. These issues are especially serious to the service industry for two reasons: First, the industry doesn't have the excitement of the high-tech industries (even though many have now fallen on hard times). Second, the number of employees between the ages of 25 and 44, traditionally the main part of the employees in the business, will continue to drop.
Under this situation, how does the service industry not only recruit new talent, but protect the employees they have? Questions about payment, training, incentives, benefits and work environment will therefore become more important.

Questions:

1) The author says the service industry is unexciting.
A True
B False

2) Most employees in the service industry are over 44 years old.
A True
B False
C Can't tell from the text

3) In the last paragraph, talent means___.
A employees
B environment
C business

I think the right answers are:
1) B
2) B
3) A

Am I right?thanks

I am a Project Director for a non-profit organization. We are aiming to build a Latino Community Center which would help the minorities of the community to have a say in the political/economic spectrum of American governance; that promotes public policy to protect civil rights and ensure equal participation in the economic, educational and social mainstream and to stimulate appreciation of the contributions to the minorities. Our website is www.californialatinocenter.org. We want this to be a political agenda and want contributions from different countries and its people. We our hosting different fundraisers to raise 18 million dollars that is set for this project. I want to know how to put the word across to people all over the country and abroad so that we can get donations into our website from those who care and, promote this endeavor that we have undertaken. Put your marketing caps on and tell us what measures should be taken to make this a successful venture.

I graduated last December from the Univ. of South Carolina with a B.S. in Technology Support & Training Management and have yet to get a job with my degree. Im beginning to feel like that whole time in college was a waste! Everytime I go on interviews its like I dont have enough experience for the job seems like. I do in fact have a job but its almost something a high school graduate can do.

Im in the process of buying some A+ Certification material to increase my chances of finding something. Im also thinking about taking grad classes for a M.A. in Information Technology Management.

Does it sound like I'm on the right route? I tell you if i knew it would have been this hard finding a job when I graduated I would have majored in something completely different. If anybody was in the same situation let me know what helped you out and got you started?

Thanks

I recently applied for a second mortgage. Loan approved pending flood insurance. My first mortage did not require flood insurance since my home is not in a flood zone. Loan company said that FEMA stated that my home is in a flood zone. Is there something new in FEMA regulations?

I don't know the right people to help me get into the public school system. I have applied for every opening and have had some interviews, but have never been hired. I have been out of work for a long time. I apply everyday to different jobs and no one calls or hires me. I want to be able to care for my family if anything should happen to my husband who is self- employed. I feel like a loser. I am feeling sorry for myself. But I set and accomplished a higher education so that I wouldn't have to rely on anyone but to no avail. what should I do and how should I feel about myelf.
