I have less than $5000 in debt, but it's in medical bills that I have failed to pay off in the past year. I am now in collection and it's ruining my credit. Should I declare so I can have a clean slate? Or will my credit be the same if I just ride it out and pay it off? Thanks!

I had worked for the company for over 2 years and was getting promoted. They did another backround check and I was subsequently fired. Now they have company policy about not hiring with a criminal record. Is this legal in michigan or even the entire US because they are a nation wide company.

I have one of the Matthew Lesko books, and see some possibiliites for small business grants. They all ask for a formal business plan in order to apply. I have everything set up in my head, but don't know the format to write one.

I played by the rules all my life. Graduated with a 3.5 GPA, interned, worked part-time jobs, and applied for HUNDREDS of positions since graduating from college last year -- and haven't even been called in for an interview yet. Not one.

Meanwhile, I know people with criminal records, poor employment records (meaning they were fired several times), worse GPAs from inferior colleges, etc. who have NO problem finding work. It's just not fair!

What can I possibly do to get my career started? I've tried everything: applying online, applying in person, applying by mail, going to several career centers and job fairs, going through staffing firms & temp agencies, talking to relatives and friends, even applying out-of-state dozens of times (in addition to the hundred applications I sent out locally).

I was involved in an accident in which I struck a vehicle in the rear on 11/15/2004. It was not a bad collision and I was starting to walk-up to ask the driver of the other vehicle if he was okay, when a car rear-ended me and then two more cars hit that vehicle pushing my jeep under the vehicle which I had hit causing severe damage in excess of $3500. My insurnce payed the driver I hit, but I have not received a dime from farmers insurance. I placed a call to the insured vehicle that strcuk me and they told me to use my insurance company to hash-out all the details and to collect funds for repair my vehicle. I told this to my insurance agent (Progressive) and they said they would do that but I didn't have full coverage so that will not happen, I need to deal with the other partie's insurance companies. I have no Idea where to go from here. If I had the money, I would get a lawyer and I am sure that I would have this resolved right now. Does anyone have an idea for me?

peace

I went to a business in town for eye exam and glasses for my son. The exam was $60 dollars, the GLASSES cost me $250 dollars. After that, I went to Wal-mart and found out I could of brought a pair for $100 dollars. I FEEL LIKE I BEEN RIP OFF BY THIS BUSINESS. I did call the business and ask if I can get my money back, and they said SORRY. I FEEL LIKE CANCELING MY CHECK, but will I be paying more in the long run? I wish I took more time to shop for glasses, instead of waste money. LIVE AND LEARN THE HARD WAY.

I am planning on buying a home for 63,000 dollars I have about 35,000 dollars saved up in my bank account is it wise to try to pay off the house as quickly as possible in order to save on interest? I live at home with my parents so I am buying the house as an investment. I plan to put about 25 or 30 thousand down on the house and leasing out the house and I am going to try to pay it off in about 2 years....Is it wise to do this or should I just give a small down payment on the home and just save my money....Banks don't pay that much on interest 4 or maybe 5 % at most, but I would be gaining about 200-250 above my monthly payment on the loan if I gave a large down payment because my payments on the home loan would only be about 400 dollars and I would be renting out the home for about 650 dollars....Is it wise to put a large down payment and try to pay off the home quickly...Or should I just give a 20% down say about 12,000 dollars and then try to pay it off later when I've saved up?

My credit card debt was sold to a third party. When this happens, do you still owe the original amount? I know these kinds of companies only pay pennies on the dollar. Also: does the original creditor get a "kickback" if this company is able to collect anything?
