I played by the rules all my life. Graduated with a 3.5 GPA, interned, worked part-time jobs, and applied for HUNDREDS of positions since graduating from college last year -- and haven't even been called in for an interview yet. Not one.

Meanwhile, I know people with criminal records, poor employment records (meaning they were fired several times), worse GPAs from inferior colleges, etc. who have NO problem finding work. It's just not fair!

What can I possibly do to get my career started? I've tried everything: applying online, applying in person, applying by mail, going to several career centers and job fairs, going through staffing firms & temp agencies, talking to relatives and friends, even applying out-of-state dozens of times (in addition to the hundred applications I sent out locally).

I'm not a graduate but I'm having the same problem myself. I'm having other people to look at my resume to see what can be revamped. Sometimes potential employers look for key words in a resume.

I would suggest having someone reliable take a look at your resume and give you some pointers.

It isn't fair that criminals and those with lackluster employment backgrounds get chosen over people like you. However, you have to remember that you can not dwell on those other people. Please concentrate on reaching your goal of gainful employment.

try looking at your resume and take it part and put it together again maybe focus on your strengths also the companies that you are looking at may not be good companies to work for if they will hire just about anyone go to the career center at your college if you can or a career center closest to you and ask them for information about company recruiters companies give the career centers information about positions and also contact information one thing also cast your net farther away from you if you are willing to travel companies like people that are willing to step out of their comfort zones try monster.com for help with resumes and CV CVs are good for pointing out experience you have in the field you want to go into try these and see of they help

Just give it some time. You'll get an interview sooner or later. This happens to a lot of college graduates, and yes, it's not fair.

i think this became mere formality. i became employed on in the previous a history examine became finished or each and every of the references have been checked. some issues take time and maybe they did not prefer to attend thinking you're able to bypass someplace else and stick to.

talk to the companies that you interned for, see what there opinion is of you and ask them for ideas, or to be refrences, it should not be that hard, maybe you are aiming too high, or too low, get on the phone and talk to the HR people from these business and ask them why your apps have been passed over or maybe you are cursed, like frank grimes from simpsons
good luck

Try doing some volunteer work in your field with scouts or a church group that can give you a job recommendation.
