Back in 2004 my rent was only 8.00 because I live in section 8 and I was not employed for the first few months, I made a money order for the rent and management picked it up, since then management has changed managers at least twice, this new one calls me and says that two yrs ago I made the rent for the wrong amount that I made the money order for only $3.89 but I don't know why I would make it out for only that amount! And now I must pay the late fees and difference from two yrs ago, but she claims she doesnt have receipts to show me because according to her... "Management is not responsible for keeping reciepts and I don't have copies" she says I should have copies of the money order but that one along with another was stolen with my purse shortly after I left the currency exchange that day? I think the burden of proof lies on her since she is the one claiming, she should be able to sustain her claim by providing me proof! Am I right? Please help, I was given a 5- day notice!

I own a small computer shop in Columbia South Carolina. The trouble I am having is keeping track of my finances. My husband does all the manual labor and my job is to keep the books. I have worked in A/R and A/P for a few years and I have several years experience in inventory. The problem is all the systems were set up when I started. I am at a loss for how to set up an accounting system for my own business. I am currently taking a bookkeeping certificate program at tech. to help fill in the gaps. However I still feel overwhelmed. I have purchased peachtree complete software. I took the quickbooks class and even bought the 2006 pro edition, but I have inventory and it does not have provisions for that. I guess my question is what is the average to have someone keep my books for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I want to work at the local hospital, but there's a union making getting the job there almost impossible. I went to an interview, they all liked me, I had the right requirements....a few days later I call to see when I can start and she informs me that the union doesn't think they should hire anyone outside and closes the position. How can this happen and how can I get around it?

My employer consistently bills itself as "world-class." I think this is silly, especially given their lack of "world-class" attributes. What is it, as an employee, that you would expect from a small company that claims to be "world-class"?

Lots of sites have promo codes for discounts when ordering on line. Is there a site where I can obtain different promo codes to use when ordering something? Not really interested in "cents off" coupons, as much as the promo codes. Thanks for the info.

Hey guys!!

I came across a job I'm very interested in on www.monster.com and e-mailed my cover letter and resume to the employer on Friday 9/22. I have not heard anything back yet, and it is now Tuesday 9/26. On the advertisement it said to get in contact with one person, and on their website it gives another point-of-contact. Should I send my resume to that person as well just to be sure they received it? Should I call towards the end of this week if I haven't heard anything? Should I go up in person with resume in hand? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

So there's the building that used to be a coffee shop, but it opened the same time Starbucks did so it went out of business. However, it was a cute little place, had a little fireplace and everything, great ambiance. I was trying to think of idea's of what this cute little place could now be, maybe I'd start my own business there. Any ideas?
