My employer consistently bills itself as "world-class." I think this is silly, especially given their lack of "world-class" attributes. What is it, as an employee, that you would expect from a small company that claims to be "world-class"?

A world class company recognises the value of it's employees as both people and assets. The company wants to do the best for it's customers, employees and shareholders.

As an employee, they will recognise the value added by training & provide training for the job, as well as possibly funding other further education. They will have a work/life balance process & they will be responsive, wecloming feedback.

They will try every day, in every way, to get better & better - and so will you.

I have worked for a world-class company & I have also worked for a company that THOUGHT it was world class.

The salary has to be good and competitive. In addition to that the employer and all the other employess have to maintain their professionalism when dealing with each other. And of course i'd expect first calss infrastructures and facilities. Not to mention the various benefits i hope to look for.

First and foremost, stock options to rank-and-file employees and good IPO prospects if the company is not public already.
