Asking for a friend.. A mom friend in a suburb of Charlotte, NC is having to find work due to divorce after 22 years of full-time-momdom. She completed high school and one year of college but has no corporate experience at all. Does anyone now of any resources in the area that could help her transition into the work world? She still has two young kids - 12 and 5 living with her. Thank-you for any tips.

The California Real Estate website says that there are three courses required to get your real estate license. These classes are offered at community colleges but there are also many online courses offered through private companies. Do these courses count towards any or all of the classes required in order to get your license? I have a college degree does that change anything?

Now, I'm not talking about getting way TOO personal... but just a general idea of what's been going on in your life. Normally I would say this isn't a good idea. But my own rent is late for this month. And my lease says that you can just pay by the end of the month with a $25 late fee. Plus my landlords have seemed like reasonably nice guys, and they keep up the buildings etc. (In other words, they're not heartless slumlords, heheh.)

So at first, I didn't think to tell them my personal reasons why my rent would be late. I thought, "They don't need to know that." But a couple days ago my landlord came by to ask me about it. He wasn't rude, but just sounded like he wanted to know what was going on. I was in my towel so couldn't open the door, and it was a little awkward. So now I have written to them to tell them what's going on, and also let them know that I'm not planning to blow off my rent.

So what I'm asking is...would that just be annoying? Or would they wanna know?

They called me before the interview to ask some preliminary questions such as , how much are you looking to get paid? So I said between 8-850. Then at the interview, they said are you ok with being paid 7.70. Is it possible they said that just to see if I'd say something about wanting more, or if Id settle?

No weasel factors allowed, just a simple answer. I can't pick the
return to use in calculations -- that's the informed, educated answer needed. Planners ask clients for the assumed return and
length of time needed. Duh. With that info., it becomes a "no brainer." That is the needed advice.
