Just pay the credit card bill in full each month, on or before the bill due date. I do this all the time, and never pay a finance charge at all. I accrue a lot of rewards and dont have to carry cash aroudn or pay ATM fees. Its really the smartest way to go, if you are responsible enough to do it properly. I have to laugh at all the irresponsible people who say to not use a credit card because they, themselves cannot responsibly only charge amounts that they can afford to pay at the end of the month.

You can always overpay each month, meaning you send more than the total balance at that time.

This works well if you have to buy an expensive item. If you are planning to buy a $1,000 refridgerator, try sending in an extra $350 before you buy it. When you get your bill, you will owe $650. If you pay $350 on it, then on the next bill you will only have to pay $300 plus whatever finance charges accrued on the final $300 balance.

You have to learn not to buy what you cannot afford.

Learn that a credit card in your wallet is not a license to spend. It is a convenience to have their in place of cash. Treat your spending just like you are spending cash, then pay off the bill 100% each month.

If you cannot do this, then you will always have debt issues.

The only way is to purchase things you can afford to pay off at the end of each billing cycle.
