I'm still in college and dependent on my parents, but I want to start investing. I want to be able to invest easily - i.e. transfer from my bank account regularly, but I don't want to be socked with fees (like Sharebuilder). It seems like a Roth IRA is a good option, but I don't know if I'm eligible to open one given that I'm a dependent.

If tax barriers make it impossible for me to start investing, there's really no incentive to earn extra money and invest it, or to spend more wisely and invest the money I save.

10 points to the person who can give me the best insight into this problem.

I'd interviewed with two companies. Can I use the 1st job offer (from small company) to negotiate my salary with the 2nd company (global company)? knowing that they MAY turn me away.. because they have so many applicants.

Anyone with past experiences?!? tips please.

I shipped my stepson's computer to him when he moved away to school. The package was mangled. After examination they have "approved the claim" and will repair rather than replace. I'm wondering what they base their numbers on.

I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I moved out of that area approximately 12 years ago. I have about 10 years Hotel management expierience. My new husband and I want to relocate back to Las Vegas to be near my family(my mother is quite ill) I really have lost touch on how to go about applying for a job in the Vegas market. It used to be back in the day you needed some kind of "juice" to get a decent job. Is there an easy way or a specific way to find a job while relocating?

I could be the interviewer's mom, he sounded so young. I have crappy clothing and no funds to purchase anything. I am pushing 50 but look 40. The job is for a restaurant chain in mgmt. I have alot of mgmt. experience so I do qualify. I'm scared!

What are the steps you need to undertake to effectuate such a transaction? Is this any different than any other "like-kind" exchange? Or am I misinformed about the ability to do such an exchange? Any guidance or referrals to websites would be appreciated.

Why can't I obtain a loan from a bank or morgage company ? They say that you can have good credit or bad, But I guess they are only looking for reallllllllly good A+1 credit score.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take on a student loan to buy stuff for my dorm...
I've already paid for tuition and everything (I got many grants and scholarships and my school also gave me a really good financial aid package). However, I need to buy stuff for my dorm ASAP, and even though I have a job, I don't have the money to buy those things (because I help my dad with the Internet and computer bills)...

But if I can't take on a student loan just to buy things for my dorm, what other kind of loans can I take on then? I'm really running out of time here and I'm going to be about 6 hours away from home (by car)

Also, I don't have a roommate, so I have to buy all the appliances as well...

Ok this is to help me get an idea for a market research project I have for a business class.

EVEN IF YOU DO NOT SMOKE: What brand (based on ads, package looks, or personal preference) of cigarettes would you choose to use?

I know smoking is horrible and I do not endorse doing it AT ALL (so you don't need to talk about that).

Just tell me which brand and why. Thanks!

I just got invited to attend a 90 minute time share presentation. In return for my time they are going to give me 2 plane tickets a two night stay in a hotel and a $40 meal card. Are they worth it? Or is it just a scam?
