I'd interviewed with two companies. Can I use the 1st job offer (from small company) to negotiate my salary with the 2nd company (global company)? knowing that they MAY turn me away.. because they have so many applicants.

Anyone with past experiences?!? tips please.

Get creative and do your research on the company and the industry. You'll find out. Call you local State Job Service for help. Of course, you can negoitiate anything. Only, if you know how. If somebody likes you and offers you a position, let them bring up the financial amount. If you are confident in your skills and ability, never accept the first offer. Never. Always, negotiate. Negotiate to a win / win situation. The only way you can negotiate for success is with confidence and conviction. You have to create an amosphere for your future employer to overcome their fears in negotiation process, in order to negotiate successfully.

I work for an global company as a consultant. Most of us negotiated our salary when we started here. The bottom line is, how badly do you want to work for the global company. If money is most important, then ask them for top dollar. Otherwise sacrafice now for future increases etc.

One can always negotiate salary, benefits, etc. However, one should also be aware of the probable outcome and behave accordingly.
