I just got invited to attend a 90 minute time share presentation. In return for my time they are going to give me 2 plane tickets a two night stay in a hotel and a $40 meal card. Are they worth it? Or is it just a scam?

It's a hard, unpleasant way to earn a "free" holiday. They will attempt to completely control you and prevent you from leaving until you agree. Some places will skate out on you if you don't buy, and you're stuck with the costs of what you thought was "free".

Now even if it's legitimate, ask yourself where the money to pay for all of this is coming from. If you answered "The pockets of anyone they can persuade to sign up," you win the prize! They have to charge more in order to make this proposition pay.

My kids and I would routinely have free week ends at the beach this way. I was a single parent with no $$$. They'd stay in the room (they were old enough to do that, people) and I'd go off to the time share thing. It usually had a free lunch (bonus) and I'd have to sit through an excruciating 90 minute presentation, but when it was done it was done and we had the rest of the weekend at the beach free and clear.

Time shares are a bad investment. So don't buy them. However, they're great to attend because they usually have great gifts. So take what they're going to give you and see if itis worth 4 hours of your time.

To expediate the process, just tell the salesperson you're here just for the plane tickets (or whatever). They'll get mad and tell you that you have to watch the video or whatever. Do whatthey say but just stand your ground and be firm about not buying.

Regards
